Good morning everyone. I'm sorry to say that I'm being a terrible student and blogging in class, (which is very empty, but it is Monday...) I hope everyone's weekend was great. Mine was pretty good. I've been kind of stressed about school work lately, but nothing a little prayer/Jesus time, and thrift store therapy couldn't relieve (oh yeah, and just doing my homework). Nathan and I went to Stockton for the entire weekend. We don't usually stay over till Sunday, but the wind was so crazy. I mean... it was like the Wizard of Oz! Lot's of trees blown over. The nice thing about staying longer than we normally do, the parents become very generous (they're very generous as people in general). My folks took us to Sushi at Shang Ri La in Lodi, one of our favorite places to go. I should have taken pictures.
Also, on Saturday my mom went to a bridal shower for an old friend of the Family. Her name is Leah, and she was my babysitter from age 6-12. I'm happy for her, I'm sure she'll be a stunningly beautiful bride. Anyways, the Bride's mother sent these cupcakes home with my mom. Looke how beautiful they are! Not to mention, these cupcakes are HANDMADE. For my shower, this woman gave me a cookbook called the "Cookie Bible" She is a baking maven.
this is what I decided to wear today. After the wind, rain, and craziness, I just wanted to wear something really warm and cozy, so... whip out the giant black sweater! The floral top I'm wearing today was one of my thrift store treasures from Saturday. My mom found it actually!
Sweater: Vintage, Top: thrifted, Skirt: thrifted, Tights: Spanx, Boots: Steve Madden from Freestyle |
I had to wear boots today. I am tired of cold/wet feet. I didn't want to repeat the foolishness of my friday outfit. Not again.
Look at the color of this tea. It's so... peachy! It's still pretty weak at this point, but it was delish with a little bit of honey.
Unfortunately peach herbal tea wasn't enough to really wake me up. I had to stop by starbucks to get a little extra lift. I'm almost certain it'll give me a tummy ache, but atleast I'll be awake right?!
Oh yeah, and before I forget, while this is not a picture of Tom during his Marathon run, I just have to say, I portion of my weekend was spent praying for/being inspired by one of my professors. Tom ran the LA Marathon on Sunday! Isn't that insanely cool? Wouldn't you love to say that you were able to run for 26 miles straight? Awesome. I think of that verse in 1 Corinthians. Verse 7:24-29 24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. 27 No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.
I dont know, I really felt like I needed to share this with you all. This is the type of leadership we have at WJU. This guy, who is also a super great dad/husband, pours his life into his students, and also runs a marathon. If you get that at a JC, I'd sure like to know.
Well everyone, that's it for me today. I hope your week is awesome. You should try to find someone you look up to in your life and remind youself of why you are inspired by them, or think of the ways they encourage you! Your week will be better off for it! Today's gonna be a good one. See you soon!
Why does this post make me want to eat a muffin AND go run a marathon...lol! Great outfit choice, btw:)
ReplyDeleteFavorite quote "If you get that at a JC I'd sure like to know" haha that's awesome. Tom is basically superman lol

Thank you for sharing that passage. I really needed that right now. :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, the picture of those cupcakes reinforces the decision I made today about needing a cupcake on Sunday. (I gave up all junk for Lent).
