It's Not That You Should Care, I Just Wanted You To Know

Feb 29, 2012

Hello everyone! I feel like it's been forever since I've posted anything. I know it's really just been a few days, but it feels like a long time to me! Anyways the reason for the little break has been because of two things: I have no clean clothes, and I have no time.
Life has just continued to get more crazy, and while I'm loving it, some things kind of have to be put further back on the shelf, and since this blog will not be a determining factor as to whether or not I'll be graduating from college, it's rank on the list of priorities is relatively low. Sorry.
I remember this time last spring semester school was unflinchingly crazy, so I'm not surprised, but I really do hate not having the time to blog and relax. blogging relaxes me! Any of you blogging peoples out there, do you relate?
Anyways, here's my outfit of the day. This sweater is actually in my shop right now for sale. The collar on this sweater is what really drew me to it. I love the peter-pan-ness of it, and the little rhinestones... they're cute and tasteful not crazy like a rock-of-love contestant.

The dress under the sweater is such an old stand-by. It's strapless so it really does go under anything, and since it's smocked, I can totally adjust it to make it longer or shorter. And while I'm really not emotionally attached to my clothes, I got engaged in this dress at disneyland, so I really love it for that reason as well.

Well you guys, thats about it for me today! Don't forget to stop by the shop and check out all the goodies, that are no 20% off with coupon! Also, if you're a current WJU student at the Rocklin Campus, your shipping is free!!

See you soon!!

Feb 24, 2012

Hello everyone! Happy Friday! What a week of craziness! In the course of this week I have been slaving away over my senior recital, I have a 20th century American art piece that is so tough, but I'm gonna master it if its the last thing I do! Not to mention the bajillion Disney songs I'm trying to memorize before April. Wow, what a tough life.

This is what I decided to wear today. This top kind of reminds of me those prom dresses from the late 80's wearly 90's that Laura Winslow would wear. I think it's because of the trim around the bottom. But hey, I can't get enough of the beautious laciness of it.
To answer your question, Yes. Those are Russian Nesting Dolls!! I'm slightly obsessed with nick-nacks from other countries. If you were to enter my apartment, you would see that I have quite the collection of Russian nesting dolls, and Cerdito piggy banks from Mexico. Also, I love the country of Mexico in general. If the Lord ever called me to full-time Mission work in Mexico, I would probably go, and I would apply to work at Rancho Sordo Mudo. Ironically the village where the ranch is at, has a strong Russian history...
PS. I made this skirt. Also, I'm fully aware of the extreme lack of pigment in my skin. I'm white, and I never tan. I've come to accept this fact, after 4 years of high school trying desperately to get tan, and only getting extremely sunburnt...

not many pictures today, but thats because my camera is swiftly running out of betteries. I need to get more. Anyways, thats about it for me anyways. I did want to mention that there is a sale currently going in the shop until St. Patrick's Day. You get 20% off when you use the code PTTV20, so be sure to check out the shop soon!! See you soon!!

Adventures in Baby Sitting

Feb 23, 2012

Hi Everyone! Are you so ready for the weekend? I am. This week should have been a breeze with Monday off, but I'm actually quite stressed. I have officially joined the thousands of soon to be college graduates in the hunt for a job. I feel like the Lord told me to go back to school because my destiny wasn't retail work, and every retail job that I have taken since I've started school has fallen through. I was hired at Freestyle, and then un-hired due to my music department schedule. So despite my greatest efforts in retail employment, the message is clear after three failed attempts here in the Sacramento area: no Urban Outfitters, no Kohls, no Freestyle. All great stores, but not for me. The really actual resume sending, interview praying, has begun. So if you're in the Sacramento area, and you have a job for this soon to be college grad, you know what to do!

anyways! I think I've told you quite a few times before that my current "part-time" job is watching the funnest three children in the whole wide world. I thought instead of showing you my outfit of the day, I'd share one of the best parts of my time here at William Jessup University.

Have you ever seen a prettier princess? This is us practicing how to say "You're Majesty."
Gotta study up on how to be a princess of course!
Oh hey, brother! That shirt says "Hello, My name is Trouble." enough said.
The whole gang. This was taken after the making of our Big Time Rush music video. These are three of the most precious kids I've ever known.

That's about it for me today, and...Well everyone there's a tiny glimpse into the life of student/wife/blogger/musician (not in that order, wife is first always). I actually am not constantly thinking of fashion, and spending all my hours reading other blogs. I hope you enjoyed a glance into my life from a different angle! And for those of you who are wondering, I am all better from my cold. The secret is Ultra Zicam, %100 Organic Cranberry Only Juice, and Sleep. See you soon!

I need more honey! More milk and honey!

Hi Everyone! Happy President’s day! Who’s your favorite President? Mine’s Abraham Lincoln. In fact, one of my favorite things at Disneyland is the Abraham Lincoln thing…I’m not joking, it makes me kind of teary. I love the freedom that we as American’s are privileged to have. I mean… look at the SOPA/PIPA thing, there were so many free Americans standing up against it, that a ton of lawmakers backed off! Yay freedom! Anyways, if I really got political this entry could take quite the turn, so we’re only gonna focus on freedom, and the fact that I have the day off from school.

Anyways, enough of that weirdness, this is what I decided to wear today. If you wondering to yourself, “what the, she looks kinda terrible.” hopefully it’s not because of my outfit, but because I have a cold, and it’s a doozie. I haven’t been sick at all this whole semester, which is nice, considering how busy I’ve been. Now that I have a little bit of time with nothing scheduled, of course I get sick. But hey, look at the bright side, I don’t have anything scheduled! I won’t have to cancel anything! There’s always a silver lining.

These are all freestyle finds of course. I know Valentine’s day is past, but you know, I think heart print should be encouraged all year long.

I’ve been sick since Friday, thusly, I’ve looked gross since Friday. But not today. I think there’s something that says on the internet somewhere that when you look good, you start to feel better. I’m going to decide to believe that, and tell you that I do actually feel a little better!

Well everyone, that’s all for me today! I hope you all enjoy your day off! I’m gonna make some food and continue to watch Parks and Recreation, and gain more inspiration from my hero, Leslie Knope.

O Pioneers!

Feb 16, 2012

Hello Everyone! Happy Thursday to you! I hope your week has been going well. Mine's been surprisingly low-key. One thing I really love about having 11.5 units my graduating semester is that I have hardly any homework! I mean, I do have internship stuff, but thats like...seriously nothing. So I have plenty of time to devote to my blog! Hooray! Actually... I do have to do housework as well. Darn.

Anyways! This is what I decided to wear today. Have you ever read any books by the author, Willa Cather? Her books are brilliant, and wayyy under-rated. She wrote my favoritist book of all time, O Pioneers! I know, I'm a pretty big user of exclamation points, but there actually is one in this title. Anyways, I feel like this dress would be something someone would wear in one of her books. It's kind of pioneery... I think it's the sleeves

I really love the fishtale style of this skirt. The ruffle is so nice on it. It's so girly and summery. I can't wait until the weather really warms up and I won't have to wear tights on it!
I'm not sure you can really tell, but I let my hair air dry today...that means it's huge and weair and wavy. So I kind of pinned it back. I think the hairstyle also lends to the pioneer-y way of this outfit.

Isn't this print precious! It's little birdies!

Well everyone, thats about it for me today. Our music department is gearing up for the major fundraising dinner, we call it the "Night Of Classics", and the them this year is The magic of DISNEY!!! I am so excited! They are doing a gigantic Mary Poppins medley... What a way to finish your college career! No one on this earth loves Julie Andrews like I do,  I'm very excited about it! But I have to learn the songs like the back of my hand so I can audition for them! We'll see. Anyways, that's what I'll be doing!  See you soon!

Friends Are Friends Forever WJU Feature: Rachel Jackson

Feb 15, 2012

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a terrific Valentine's day! I for sure did! Nathan and I went to our favorite Thai Food place in Citrus Heights called Lada Thai... man, I love Thai food. It was so delicious, and romantic. Its always nice to know that there is great locally owned restaurant that you won't have to wait 45 minutes for. I decided not to take my camera because well... sometime I don't want to share my dates. Maybe that sounds mean, but it's not. Would you want 100 people on your date?

Anyways!! This is what I decided to wear today. Is it taboo to take pictures of yourself for fashion's sake in the school library? This is the second time I've done this. Books just make such a cool background! Also, I found myself in the Theater section, so the books were really interesting!

This is actually what I wore on my Valentine's date last night, and I really wanted to wear it again today so I did! I know I'm not the only person who thinks "no saw me wear this yesterday, so I'm gonna wear it today." You know what the glasses mean: no make up. Thanks 8am classes!

Also: I felt like today was a great day for a Jessup feature. Just feat your eyes on this beautious beauty, Rachel! Rachel is my dearest dear of a friend at school, and I truly do adore her. Her style is seriously matched by no one. I have seen other people around town wear this coat, and the coat actually wears them, not the case here! It takes a very special woman to wear a coat of this magnitude, and Rachel pulls if off without a problem.
One thing I really admire about Rachel's style is that she adds a really unique ethnic/hippie flare without it looking silly or over the top. This necklace is proof of that.
Since Rachel is one of my dearest friends and we hang out often, she has actually been seen on this blog many times, but now you can see her as she normally is! believe it or not, she's not constantly doing yoga!
Well everyone!! Thats about it for me today! I added tons of new and great things to the shop yesterday, and there will be more added today! keep your eyes peeled!! have a great Wednesday everyone! you're half way there! see you soon!

Valentine's Day Feature!! Two Happy Hearts!!

Feb 13, 2012

Hello Everyone! It's never too late for a post, am I right? If you're wondering, I am right. I am really super excietd about this post. I know sometimes are anti-Valentine's day, but let me tell you something right now: I am not. I am pro valentines day for two reasons. 1) It's fun to designate a day for pouring your love on people more that normal. 2) Pink and Red are the colors your face turns when you blush when you fall in love, and if you wanna look like you're in love, wear pink and red. No better time than Valentine's day!

Anyways! Tonights post is one that I am wayyyy too excited to share. This lovely lady is a blogging friend of mine that I asked to do a Valentine feature and when she graciously agreed, I was ecstatic. This is Christen from Two Happy Hearts! Enjoy!!

Hello there Parrish the Thought readers! My name is Christen and I run my blog, Two Happy Hearts. I love posting fun, vintage-inspired, girly outfits. I also do occasional hair tutorials, DIY crafts, and recipes.
I am so excited and honored to be featured on Rachel's lovely blog! She is quite the adorable gal, as I'm sure you all know by now ;)
Today I'm sharing a sweet & simple Valentine's Day date night outfit. This is one of my favorite dresses I picked up from H&M last fall. It's perfect and so, so, so pretty! I hope you enjoy.

Isn't she way too cute and way to sweet?! This alone should be your reason not to hate Valentine's day if you do. This is one of the blogs I frequent probably every day, and that is not a joke. Go over there! Follow Follow Follow!! Thats about it for me today! I gotta get back to paying attention to my night class. What a wonderful diversion, wouldn't you agree? See you soon!

I'm a professional. I've had three performances

Feb 10, 2012

Hello Everyone!! I hope you're all havign a great day! Hooray for Friday! The weather could not be more perfect I have to say! It's been really sunny and perfect this week...even for California. Being up in Northern California we do have mild season change, and February is usually our rainy month, but no this year I guess! Weird.

Anyways! This is what I decided to wear today. Sandals and Sleevless! Can you believe it?! I've been pretty loyal to my daily blog reading, and a few of the ladies that I follow show tons of snow in their photo backgrounds! I took these photos this morning, and I wasn't even cold...and I'm always cold!

This mustardy color isn't one that I typically wear. However, I really loved the filly neckline, and I figured that I would give this color a try. I thought that it might make my super pale skin look kind of jaundiced, but I was pleasantly suprised.
Here's a good example of second day hair. I'm becoming more and more inclined to wear it down. That just means I have to wash it.

I found these little beauties at Freestyle, and the girl who sold them told me that she couldn't find anything to wear them with! To that I simply replied with "Turquoise is a neutral! You could wear these with anything!" I firmly believe that of these sandals. Also. I'm extremely glad to be wearing sandals in February.
OKAY story time. So I was watching Parks and Rec like normal, and I don't normally pay attention to the million nic-nacs that Nathan and I have collected for our shelf while watching TV...but I felt something staring into my soul. When I looked up I noticed that one of my Madame Alexander McDonalds dolls was staring right at me!!!! How creepy right? I think Michael Jordan was holding her back...thats what the situation looks like on film atleast. Oh life.
Well everyone, thats about it for me today! Enjoy the rest of your Friday, and have a wonderful weekend!! See you soon!

The rest is painted with a little science fiction

Feb 9, 2012

Hi Everyone!! It's been a few days since I've posted anything, and since I know you've be desperately waiting at your computers for an update, I will now indulge you. wow. Anyways, sometimes you just need a break right? After recording, and trying to keep up with my blog during that whole crazy process, I just needed  a week to get my brain around school, and starting my internship. You know, pay attention to things that I've invested thousands of dollars in, and gone into major debt over.

ANYWAYS! On to funner matters! This is what I've decided to wear today! I'd seen Coury over at Fancy Treehouse wearing red over the knee socks, and was instantly inspired. That actually happens often at her blog (I've kind of adopted a WWCW what would coury wear mindset). But since I hate what my legs looks like in over the knee socks, I decided to go for the full-on red tights. Red tights are bold, and i know that, but I actually can't get enough of them! I'm no scouring my closet for what else I can wear with them. I tried them with over the knee boots... a little bit too "Mrs Incredible" for me...
There was once a day when I was a full-time musician, and I wore this little dress on TV! I've had it for 6 years now. It is offically the oldest item in my closet, and I cannot sell it. It's also my most faovritist dress ever. I got it from FINA, a fancy schmancy boutique in Stockton. Thats where you go if you're gonna be on TV. It was the only way I could Justify buying something from a Boutique.

I tried to ombre my hair over the weekend... and I didn't think you could even tell... until I look at this picture right in this moment.

Thought you might want an update on the doggies! Chico (front doggy for new readers) just got fixed...he's totally fine. I was afraid it might change his funny personality, which would break my heart into a majillion peices... but turns out, he was good as new!
That's about it for me today! Dont forget the Valentine's day sale going on over at my Companion Shop at Etsy. Just click on the collage and it'll take you over!  See you soon!!
