Spring Break Bucket List (Budget Edition)

Apr 1, 2015

Spring Break is upon VCS! Yay! You can image if this is how the teachers feel, what my kids must be feeling. I feel sorry for both parties. We want break, but I still have stuff to teach! Please! Please stay engaged, students, whom I love and adore! Just a day and a half to go! And while this time is only 6 school days long, I am soooo tempted to just turn on Friends, New Girl, Parks and Rec, you name it, and veg. But no! I will not veg! I'll sleep in for sure, but I wanna be creative and productive, and grow as well. Here's how I plan on spending my spring break, while spending as little money as possible.

1) Write a full song.
2) Finish The Autobiography of Elanor Roosevelt (I do it all for you, Leslie Knope)
3) Post 3 Blog Posts (over the course of the week)
4) Read My Bible Everyday by the river-walk downtown
5) Go to the beach (duh)
6) finish my taxes (so not fun)
7) Coffee with friends. Lots and Lots of coffee.

Also, Easter is upon us, there shall be a separate post on that for sure as well. See you soon!

When I was 11, I Audited My Parents

Jul 24, 2012

Hello everyone, Happy tuesday to you. It's been a pretty dull day. I haven't even had my coffee yet. So besides being dull as of now, everything is kind of a blur. I did however manage to watch The Other Guys and beat my high score in Solitaire. Yes. Very exciting things happening with my this morning.

But lets get something out in the open here, Emily chose Jef!? Weird. I've always been pretty good at decifering which guy the bachelorette was going to pick, but I have to admit. I never saw that coming. My pick was Sean, I knew he couldn't win. He was too nice, too American. So. American.

Anyways, here's what I decided to wear today. I've be wearing my hair in a bun every single day for the past 6 months I feel like. I dont enjoy my hair down right now. It desperately needs a little bit of a styling. Thursday can't come soon enough. However, I did attempt the center part today. It's never too late to be late to the party I guess.
I am obsessed with the color Coral these days. One of my dearest friends chose it as her wedding color way back in 2009 (our anniversary is 5 months apart, and she flew alllllll the way from New York to be in my wedding. What a blessing to have lifelong friends), and I was skeptical, but I was proven wrong when every single. very different looking, girl looked absolutely glowing in their dress. Whit was so ahead of the times :) She still is.

Are those blue cherries? I can't really tell, but I dont care. Also, here's some lacey-lace for your delight. Just a little bit of trend over-load. What of it.

Here's a few pictrues of our weekend adventures. When my parents came for the weekend they took us to Thai Food, Freestyle, and then last but not least, arguably the best ice cream on the west coast: LEATHERBY'S. If you are ever ever ever in the Sacramento area, you have to go there.  The ice cream is insane!! They also have food, but who cares about food when there's ice cream? I sincerely believe that.
This is a lovely picture of my parents...behind my tower of ice cream. I shared (meaning I totally ate most of it myself) with my wubby. This creation is the chocolate sundae with Peanut Butter sauce. Yes this does exist, and I do now have type 2 diabetes.
Sunday after church, we went to Lucille's for lunch. good food and obviously, better company. This is my best friend, June. We're best friends.
Also, I thought I would share with you this picture. This is my husband. At work. Holding a Thor hammer, and his best buddy, Jordan, In...I honestly don't know. The Puffy shirt from Seinfeld? Either way, they get paid to do this. Lordy...Look at those ridiculous boots!!
Well thats about it for me today!! I gotta check the mail and somehow be productive. There's dishes in the sink...I could add that to the list of very exciting things to do today :) See you soon!

Friends Are Friends Forever WJU Feature: Rachel Jackson

Feb 15, 2012

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a terrific Valentine's day! I for sure did! Nathan and I went to our favorite Thai Food place in Citrus Heights called Lada Thai... man, I love Thai food. It was so delicious, and romantic. Its always nice to know that there is great locally owned restaurant that you won't have to wait 45 minutes for. I decided not to take my camera because well... sometime I don't want to share my dates. Maybe that sounds mean, but it's not. Would you want 100 people on your date?

Anyways!! This is what I decided to wear today. Is it taboo to take pictures of yourself for fashion's sake in the school library? This is the second time I've done this. Books just make such a cool background! Also, I found myself in the Theater section, so the books were really interesting!

This is actually what I wore on my Valentine's date last night, and I really wanted to wear it again today so I did! I know I'm not the only person who thinks "no saw me wear this yesterday, so I'm gonna wear it today." You know what the glasses mean: no make up. Thanks 8am classes!

Also: I felt like today was a great day for a Jessup feature. Just feat your eyes on this beautious beauty, Rachel! Rachel is my dearest dear of a friend at school, and I truly do adore her. Her style is seriously matched by no one. I have seen other people around town wear this coat, and the coat actually wears them, not the case here! It takes a very special woman to wear a coat of this magnitude, and Rachel pulls if off without a problem.
One thing I really admire about Rachel's style is that she adds a really unique ethnic/hippie flare without it looking silly or over the top. This necklace is proof of that.
Since Rachel is one of my dearest friends and we hang out often, she has actually been seen on this blog many times, but now you can see her as she normally is! believe it or not, she's not constantly doing yoga!
Well everyone!! Thats about it for me today! I added tons of new and great things to the shop yesterday, and there will be more added today! keep your eyes peeled!! have a great Wednesday everyone! you're half way there! see you soon!

Valentine's Day Feature!! Two Happy Hearts!!

Feb 13, 2012

Hello Everyone! It's never too late for a post, am I right? If you're wondering, I am right. I am really super excietd about this post. I know sometimes are anti-Valentine's day, but let me tell you something right now: I am not. I am pro valentines day for two reasons. 1) It's fun to designate a day for pouring your love on people more that normal. 2) Pink and Red are the colors your face turns when you blush when you fall in love, and if you wanna look like you're in love, wear pink and red. No better time than Valentine's day!

Anyways! Tonights post is one that I am wayyyy too excited to share. This lovely lady is a blogging friend of mine that I asked to do a Valentine feature and when she graciously agreed, I was ecstatic. This is Christen from Two Happy Hearts! Enjoy!!

Hello there Parrish the Thought readers! My name is Christen and I run my blog, Two Happy Hearts. I love posting fun, vintage-inspired, girly outfits. I also do occasional hair tutorials, DIY crafts, and recipes.
I am so excited and honored to be featured on Rachel's lovely blog! She is quite the adorable gal, as I'm sure you all know by now ;)
Today I'm sharing a sweet & simple Valentine's Day date night outfit. This is one of my favorite dresses I picked up from H&M last fall. It's perfect and so, so, so pretty! I hope you enjoy.

Isn't she way too cute and way to sweet?! This alone should be your reason not to hate Valentine's day if you do. This is one of the blogs I frequent probably every day, and that is not a joke. Go over there! Follow Follow Follow!! Thats about it for me today! I gotta get back to paying attention to my night class. What a wonderful diversion, wouldn't you agree? See you soon!

East is East, and West is San Francisco

Jan 9, 2012

Hi Everyone! I hope you’re having a great day! It’s been kind of a crazy weekend for me. Work and Church make for some real busyness between Nathan and I.  Also, probably the cause of all my stress is always school in someway. If it’s not classes themselves, it’s stuff that relates with school, and right now, that’s financial aid. Probably the most stressful thing about school. I was really worried that I would have to pay a ton of money because my medical insurance situation is changing quite abit, but it turns out... I dont owe much at all.  Why do I freak out so much? Silly me. I always have to remember this: the Lord always provides in someway, if that’s in the form of a job or a random check in the mail, or my financial aid covering more than I thought, God always makes a way.

Anyways, enough of stressful talk, let me tell you about my day on Friday! I went with some girlfriends from school to the beautiful city of San Francisco. It really could not have been a more glorious day. Ask the girls, I actually said “This day is literally glorious.” It was so beautiful. The Sun was shining, it wasn’t cold or windy at all. It was perfect.

If you eat at Wipeouts, they give you a coupon for the coffee shop across the way, and the coffee shop gives you this little cookie with your coffee! It was delicious.

Now… I realize that the pier is totally a touristy joint, but you know what, how can you tell me that this isn’t a beautiful place? They still had the Christmas tree up even! It was huge! Gosh. So fun. Oh San Francisco, why are there two toll bridges, so I could visit you more? I know there’s actually a reason, but it was rhetorical, so please don’t tell me. I wish there was a way for this picture to not be so fuzzy, otherwise you would be able to better see the beautious women I spent my day with. It was so fun.

How glorious is this candy shop? It was full of awesomely beautiful candy.

Here’s a shameless GPOY. What did I tell you about this sweater? Im obsessed with it! I try to wear it as often as I can, and I'm not ashamed to tell the world!

Oh, I just wanna go back so bad and walk all over that beautiful city! Well you wonderful people. There’s my weekend update for you. I hope your weekend was awesome! I’m thinking about getting my bangs trimmed this week. What are your thoughts about blunt bangs? I like them. Who knows. I’ll see you soon.

Guest Blogger: Candy from Taylor And Demolish

Dec 1, 2011

Hey everyone! So here's kind of a new concept for Parrish the Thought: A GUEST BLOGGER! Why did I never think to do this before?! ANYWAYS!

You have to meet this girl. She came to me via IFB message, and I was drawn to her instantly. Her city style is so great, and she is so bold and brave. Here's an introduction to her blog, I hope you love her, because, well... us Sacramento people could use a little New Yorker style in our lives! Plus the fact, that it's probably imperative that you click on her DIY posts. SO... without Further a do: Candy!!

I've always been awkward when it came to using words to describe myself, so I've always hoped that describing myself visually did a much better job.  My love for things edgy and soft comes from the fire I have in my heart for God and my desire to be more kindhearted like Him.  I'm the Christian who wears black lipstick.  I'm the accountant who rocks a mohawk.  I'm the runner and workout fiend who is obsessed with chocolate.  I appear to be a contorted bag of contradictions but what I really am...is just me.  I love rich (in color) and expensive (in quality) clothing but I love making things on my own, so my fashion blog, taylor & DEMOLISH, was created.  At taylor & DEMOLISH, I express everything I love about fashion, explain my personal style, and host all of my DIY projects.  I'm so grateful to God for every amazing opportunity I've received from my blog and it because of that alone that I make sure to always stay true to myself and my OWN personal style in everything I post.

Well everyone! be sure to go over to taylor & DEMOLISH and check out her blog.

Thats about it for me today. Life has been busier than ever, is this the same for you? I'm going nuts I feel like. Have a great rest of your week, the weekend is coming soon! Yes, Lord! See you soon

Give Thanks To The Lord For He Is Good

Nov 23, 2011

What are you thankful for? It's a crazy thing to really think about the things that Lord blesses us with isn't it? I mean, there are times when I just get so stressed and anxious, that I forget how good I truly have it.

Let's make a list:
1. Happy Marriage (Thanks Lord!)
2. Making Music that makes money
3. Having a family that loves eachother
4. Having Sweet little pets to love
5. Having Friends that are more like Family
6. Living in a country that allows women to go to school
7. Living in a place that allows us to proclaim our faith (whatever it is!)
8. Having a roof over my head and a bed to sleep in
9. Having food to eat
10. A Savior that took ALL my burdens when I didn't deserve it.

Well everyone, that it for today! As you go to your families for thanksgiving, remember that every Good and Perfect Gift comes from Him.  God is so good to us. See you soon!

Birthdays Are Great Days For An Over-abundance Of Free Caffein

Nov 22, 2011

Hello Everyone!!! Welcome to my birthday post. Today is not my actual birthday, it was Sunday, but today is the day I celebrated it with my friends Erin and Sharon.

Birthdays are so weird right? They're really special to us, but they're not like an official holiday or anything. You can't get the day off really, but the day circles around...you. I dont know, that seems really weird to me. A day that is totally about you, just because you were born, not really becasue you did anything super great. I don't know if I really like that. However, I love when other people have birthdays, because I love to shower them with love, and tell them how great they are, I guess we should all just recieve eachother's blessings... I dont know... too many thoughts going on in my mind to make much sense of this.

ANYWAYS, here is what we all decided to wear today. What cute friends we are right?! I've featured Erin on here before, so we all know what a babe she is, but check out Sharon! How cute is she, right?! She works at Shady, and Erin and I just adore her. She's the sweetest. I always look forward to chatting with her when I go in.

Have you ever seen a more beautiful coffee? I'll bet you haven't.
HAHA! I forced the girls into being a part of this blog. There's a huge lot surrounded with beautiful fall trees, I dragged them over to be a part of my photo-session. Haha.
Please feast your eyes on cute Erin, and the GLORIOUS trees! Downtown Roseville is so quite and calm and pretty, especially when the trees are all in Fall mode. Ugh... So great.

Sharon and I have a southwestern thing going to day. Those are my new moccasin boots from Freestyle. I'm still trying to figure out how to wear them. I feel like today I kind of look like a ballerina/indian princess... I think the next time I wear this dress, I'll be wearing it with jeans. It's a little too short for comfort, and the tule on the underside gets caught on everything... this dress gets real short real fast...whoospie daisy!
they weren't even posing!! they should be models.
OH, speaking of birthday fun, I just couldn't leave out this little peice. I babysit the greatest kids ever on Wednesday afternoon between classes, and their mom, Brandy, made me this SUPER great hat!! This is their little girl, JJ, and we're pretty much best friends. Here we are wearing our twin hats. You can't not melt when this precious little princess says "weil Twins! mine's pulpul, and youlls is Gween!" She's just way too much for me.

So there you have it. Happy birthday to me, I'm now a 26-year-old woman. It is amazing what the Lord does in your life over the course of just one year. It's crazy how much we learn, how much we go through... It makes me realize one thing: The Lord is Good; He is never surprised. Never.

So thats about it for me today. I hope you've had a great week thus far. I know I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving (hasn't it come so quickly?!!!!) and being with my family!! Have a great Tuesday! See you soon.

A loyal friend laughs at your jokes when they're not so good

Aug 14, 2011

HELLO EVERYONE!!! Good lordy-lordy! It’s been such a long long time since I’ve been able to post anything. I thought the school year was busy, but wow, once you don’t have school to worry about, all of the sudden you get super busy with other stuff! Not to mention, the cord to my camera went missing. Turns out it was in the back seat of my car this whole time. I hate when stuff like that happens. I am seriously the worst with losing things. But what a victorious feeling when you find it again! Oh blogging world, how I have sincerely missed you!
Anyways, these past few weeks have just been a blur. Where have they gone?! Well, I know that Nathan and I went to Monterey with the band that he’s now apart of. They’re called Kingdom, and they are super great, and that’s all I’m going to say about them. Just kidding! Nathan joined this band a few weeks ago, and I guess they trusted him with one of their most important shows of all time, Spirit West Coast, and asked us to come along. It was definitely kind of twilight zone-ish not being there with our Modesto friends and we certainly did miss them, but what a wonderful blessing to hang out with our new friends, who feel like old friends! At the risk of sounding really churchy, it’s really been a blessing to see Nathan get to bring the metal once more. It’s pretty clear that this kinda stuff is what he was meant to do.
Anyways, this is what I decided to wear today. Get a load of the print on this top! Isn’t it fun? I picked this bad boy up yesterday from freestyle. I pretty much made a killing yesterday when I sold boat-load of stuff that I never wore, or decided I could live without. I hadn’t been in about a week-and-a-half, so there were tons of new things there. I could have gone crazy, but I decided to take it easy.

So… cropped tops and high-waisted midi-skirts and summer dresses have pretty much been my summer uniform. This outfit clearly, is no different.

Also, look how quickly my brangs have grown! Good grief! When they get long like this, I feel like they are pushing down on my eyelashes, and they make me tired, but whatever, I really am not complaining. Grow hair, grow!!

Well, without further a-do, here are a few pics from our Monterey trip. Nathan’s made a new little best friend. Her name is June. She belongs to our friends Vanessa and Jordan. This trip really couldn’t have been more fun. Can’t wait till next year!!
Well everyone, that’s about it for me today. Ican’t believe school literally starts in less that two weeks! AHHHH!!! Idont know if I have enough time to emotionally prepare! Just kidding, that’s not true. I really excited about school starting…and I’m really excited about Graduating!!! Let the countdown begin. Have a great Sunday everyone, see you soonJ
