It's the hap- happiest season of all

Dec 11, 2012

Hello everyone. Two days in a row! Go me! I can't believe that there was a time when I found time to do this every day!! Crazy! Anyways, today was our last Christmas performance for choir, I'm so proud of my students. I have been cracking the whip for the past 3 months, and they have worked so hard. Go them!

Anyways, this is what I wore to school today. Usually when we have a performance, I wear all-black. However, all my black clothes were dirty, so I wore whatever what I wanted. I didn't mean to look so Christmas-y, but hey! It's christmastime!

Even if you cannot hear my voice, I'll be right beside you, dear

Jan 28, 2012

Hello Everyone! Happy Saturday to you!  I hope your weekend is starting out right! Mine totally is, I'm in Stockton today to celebrate my mom's birthday! Her friends all pitched in to buy she and my dad a weekend away in Mendocino! Let me tell you, no one deserves a beautiful weekend like my parents, so I'm so happy they get to go do that.

Anyways, this outfit is actually not what I decided to wear today. I wore this yesterday. But I have to say, I'm really proud of this skirt, because I altered it to be a mullet skirt! I loved it as a normal ol' skirt, but now its so much more fun as as mullet skirt. It was super easy too. I have a feeling this won't be the only skirt I do this with. I was so excited about it that I forgot to cut a few strings from the hem, but whatever.

I'm really into the color combo of this outfit. Peach, Grey, Denim, Black, White. Please let me wear this every single day.

This shot really shows the strings... whoopsie! the reason I decided to make this into a mullet skirt was because I bought these little boots, and I couldn't find a single thing to wear with them, and I was scared that I would have to return them, but alas, my creative brain had a breakthrough. These tights are not my favorite, becasue they make my legs look all bruised up, but they're the only sheer grey tights I have, sue me.
 Ugh, the colors. My favorite.
And last but not least, the boots.
Well everyone that's about it for me today. I have no clue whats planned for the rest of my day, but I'm sure I can think of something fun, but for now, I'll continue watching this Snow Patrol DVD that I've had on while I work on this blog. So Incredibly awesome. Have a great great great Saturday! See you soon!

Yo Adrian, I did it

Jan 21, 2012

Happy Saturday everyone! It’s been quite a week for me! Back to school, and craziness abounding. I still have so much to do it’s sick, but that’s okay. I like being busy actually! I love being productive. I shipped off a few orders from my Etsy shop, and turned in my rented movie (wow… redbox gets expensive when life gets busy!), and last and most importantly… I have booked my Senior Recital. that’s right everyone. Everything I have to show my musical career as a music Student at William Jessup University will come to pass on May 5th in the William Jessup University Lecture Hall at 7:30pm. Wow… I really can’t wait.  It’s kind of ironic thinking that I have more time to plan this recital than I did to plan my own wedding! Haha.

Anyways, This is what I decided to wear today. The weather has taken a turn for the cold and windy. I mean… it is winter, so I guess that nice warm weather wasn’t going to last forever! Also... doesn't this look like something Adrian, Rocky Balboa's wife, would wear? Thats a plus for me. Also a plus,  I found a gigantic hole in the fence and ventured into the complex next door, and found even better scenery! Adventure!!

You can’t even really tell, but this dress is asymmetrical. It’s one of those mullet style dresses. It’s also short sleeved. But I covered it up with a sweater and a coat.

Aren’t these boots glorious? I decided that I was over my black over the knee boots, so I sold them at Freestyle. And Lo and behold, these beauteous boots came into the store. It was like they were waiting for me to need different boots. I couldn’t resist them.

Anywyas, that’s about it for me today. I really liked this picture spot, so on the days I’m not taking pictures at school, I might make this one of my regular locales. We’ll see. Well everyone, I hope your weekend is awesome! See you soon.

They Said Not To Drink The Sprinkler Water

Jan 12, 2012

Good Morning everyone! Happy Thursday! You know those days when you don't have much to say? Thats me today. Not a lot to do today, so I'm just gonna talk about my outfit!

This is what I decided to wear today. isn't this 70's dress so fun? I bought it to wear to play a show with my Husband. It really has a great folksy vibe, how could I pass it up? Since it's really got a lot going on by itself, it really doesn't need much styling, and especially since it's a really beautiful day, I don't need a coat or anything.
The colors of this dress happen to all be my very favorite colors, separately and in combination with eachother. Purple, Blue and Teal. What more could I ask for? Nothing, I guess!!

My hair growing out goal is really coming along nicely! Now I can even curl into Farrah waves! Hooray!!

Another edition of:Shoes my Husband puts on Hold for me!
Well everyone. Thats about it for me today. Tomorrow will be a fun last day of freedom as I'm having coffee with Erin, and then hanging out with one of the ladies from youth group. she'll be featured for sure, she's absolutely gorgeous. Anyways, enjoy the rest of your day folks! See you soon!!

Ice Cream For Breakfast

Jan 10, 2012

Hello Everyone!! I hope you're having a great week thus far. It's been pretty uneventful for us thus far. To be honest, thats exactly how I like it. However, I did magage to create a to-do list for my senior recital, and it did kind of spark a mini anxiety explosion, there's so much to do! I Just resolved to worrying about it when the time actually comes. No use in excessive worry! Also, to comfort myself in these last few days of winter break I had a nice huge bowl of ice cream for breakfast. Don't judge! Have you ever had the chocolate fudge and peanut butter ice cream from Target? It tastes exactly like the kind from B&R, which is my very favorite kind! Trust me, in tough times, you would do the same! Wow. I'm hilarious.

Anyways! this is what I decided to wear today! This little dress was screaming my name in the dressing room while I was trying it on. It's so cute! It's actually a racer back tank style, which really makes it sweater friendly. I hate when the 3/4 length sleeves of my dresses get all mushed up in the sleeves of my sweater. Nothing to be concered about with this little beauty. The only thing I'm kicking myself over now is, I now have to find something else to wear for Valentine's day! Wow.... bad planning. Guess I'm just gonna have to find something else :)

This outfit is a 90's extravaganza with this cardigan and dress combo. I don't mind! I happen to love 90's extravaganzas! Any excuse to use the word extravaganza is also not so bad!

Ummmm how fun are these crazy little booties! I found these at Buffalo on Haight during my San Francisco trip! There's no way I could wear these bad boys to work today, so I actually do have to change my shoes later today. They also kind of make me feel like I have horse hooves (hoofs?) when I walk.

Okay, and before I go, I have to share these pictures of our dear friend's little girl, June.  Her dad is always telling me to feature her on this blog, and I honestly don't know why she hasn't shown up on here. I mean... she's a million times more cute than me. She was bringing the metal after youth group on Sunday night. Her dad is the guy with glasses...on the left. Jordan and the guy on the far right, Sean, are also in Kingdom.
Okay. Seriously?! Nathan said he just picked up the book and she just sat right down on his foot! Have you ever seen anything more cute in your whole freaking life? I definitely haven't. This was a very heart-melting moment for me. June and Nathan are best friends. Look at her little hand! ugh! so cute!

Well now that your hearts are all in puddles on the floor, thats about it for me today. I really need to get working on those things on my to-do list. Keep your eyes on the store, there are things added all the time! I hope you all have a great rest of your day! I'll see you soon!

Three Words: Lindsay Carlisle Shay

Jan 5, 2012

Hi Everyone! Hope your day's been great! Mine's been pretty run of the mill. Nathan is feelign much better, so thats really super great. You married folks know, if one of you doesn't sleep, you both don't, so it's nice that he's getting better. Also, it didn't click to me, that when you sleep in way late, your body wants to stay up later, and since I like to go to bed early, that just doesn't work. I know, I'm roughly 100 years old. Whatever, I do what I want!
Anyways, after I'm done taking care of my internet things, I'm on my way to having coffee at Shady with my dear friend Erin. It's been wayy too long since I've seen her last. Life just gets so crazy doesn't it? I feel like I better soak in this time of calm and having time to do stuff.  In about 2 weeks school starts again, and with graduation, and senior recital, and working. The word craziness will basically define life in general. Bring it. that's what I say!

ANYWAYS! this is what I decided to wear today. I just realized that for somereason, it kind of looks like the outfit I posted yesterday. Whoops. however, I think the boots in this outfit are way more exciting. These beautiful vintage Justins are in my possesion as a result of my Husband putting them on hold at work. Some husband buy their wives flowers, mine puts shoes on hold for me... equally valuable!

This bun is so decieving, and I love it! My hair is growing out painfully slow, and in order to make it look fuller and bigger, I just tease the living daylights out of it and pin it like crazy. I;m quite pleased with the results.
I'm really not sure what I'm doing with my face here, like if I meant to blink, or if my eyes are just closed. The world will never know. not even me.

I know there's a rule that says never match your shoes to your bag, or that you always should, or that the second is way outdated so ignore it, I dont know, but one thing I do know is: these boots perfectly match the Vintage dooney that my husband got me for Christmas, and if matching is wrong, then I don't want to be right! Eff the rules!
Here's a few pictures of how we've been ringin' in the new year: Nathan's been painting up a storm, I repurposed our bookshelf as a nick-nack shelf (those flowers are real!!), and when your wubby gets sick, you make him his favorite dish. This delicacy is one I like call: egg stuff.

Well you lovely people everywhere, thats about it for me today. Time has come for me to get going. Remember how I told you I needed to celebrate my great yesterday by going to Freestyle, well besides coming away with those excellent boots, I had to put a million things on hold, so thats one of my errands, sell sell sell, so I can buy buy buy....all before I go to coffee with the Lovely Erin. See you soon!

A house needs a grandma in it

Jan 3, 2012

Hello everyone! I hope you've all had a great week thus far. I sure did. I started it off yesterday with the thrifting marathon of the year with my mom. I seriously could not have had a better thrifting day. I found so much great stuff. I can't wait to share with you all on this blog. Part of what makes going to the thrift store so fun is the fact that I do go with my mom. She is seriously the best shopping partner. sometimes I think people just tell you that the things you pick our are cute because they don't want to hurt your feelings, but not my mom, she'll always tell me if something is just plain weird or too worn to be redeemed. What a true shopping friend.

Anyways, we are back in town now, and to greatest dismay, Nathan is sick. He's got some kind of bad cold, or something. So, I'm playing nurse while he gets better. I've already done my wifely/nursely duties by going to target and picking up some crazy cold medicine, and soup, and treats for when you get sick. It's a real bummer, I always hate to see my wubby not at 100%, it makes me sad!

Well... this is what I decided to wear today. Is this not the coolest sweater you have ever seen? I just couldn't pass it up, it's just too cool of a vintage peice. The colors are awesome, the pattern is just out of control. I have a rule regarding clothes, where only one peice of the outfit can be the star, even if you're mixing prints. It's pretty obviousl this sweater is the star of my outfit!

My goodness! Have you ever seen a more awesome pattern on a sweater? Neither have I! Look at it! Wow...

In case there have ever been days where you wondered "I wonder if she is showing off her wedding ring..." the answer is 100% yes. I am not a huge jewlery person at all. I'm really not a big fan of things that tend to be really expensive (remember the part about me loving the thrift store). But besides my ring being special because it's my wedding ring, this ring is especially special because it was inherited! This beautiful ring was Nathan's grandmother's ring from his mother's side. It really is an honor that my mother-in-law thought me worthy of wearing it.

you can't deny a classic. These are among my very favorite shoes that I own. Scared shins everywhere should run and hide at the sight of them. Just kidding! I would never kick anyone in the shin!
Well everyone, thats about it for me today. I decided that I would put this sweater in the store, so you can click on the "store" tab to check it out a little more closely. But just so you know, I'm probably gonna wear it until it sells, and It'll be a sad day for me to see it go... But, I can't keep all the great vintage to myself, I need to share it with the world!! I hope the rest of your week goes great! I need to get back to nursing my wubby back to health! I'll see you soon!

Guest Blogger: Candy from Taylor And Demolish

Dec 1, 2011

Hey everyone! So here's kind of a new concept for Parrish the Thought: A GUEST BLOGGER! Why did I never think to do this before?! ANYWAYS!

You have to meet this girl. She came to me via IFB message, and I was drawn to her instantly. Her city style is so great, and she is so bold and brave. Here's an introduction to her blog, I hope you love her, because, well... us Sacramento people could use a little New Yorker style in our lives! Plus the fact, that it's probably imperative that you click on her DIY posts. SO... without Further a do: Candy!!

I've always been awkward when it came to using words to describe myself, so I've always hoped that describing myself visually did a much better job.  My love for things edgy and soft comes from the fire I have in my heart for God and my desire to be more kindhearted like Him.  I'm the Christian who wears black lipstick.  I'm the accountant who rocks a mohawk.  I'm the runner and workout fiend who is obsessed with chocolate.  I appear to be a contorted bag of contradictions but what I really am...is just me.  I love rich (in color) and expensive (in quality) clothing but I love making things on my own, so my fashion blog, taylor & DEMOLISH, was created.  At taylor & DEMOLISH, I express everything I love about fashion, explain my personal style, and host all of my DIY projects.  I'm so grateful to God for every amazing opportunity I've received from my blog and it because of that alone that I make sure to always stay true to myself and my OWN personal style in everything I post.
