Spring Break: Day 1: Travel Day

Mar 31, 2012

Hello everyone! It's been FOREVER since I last posted, and while I've been really busy, the main reason was because my computer was stolen! As you may have read, my car was broken into! Luckily my camera was not in my computer bag, it was in my purse, and my purse was in my apt, so, I still had that. The computer I'm now using is my Grandma's computer, which I doubt she's ever touched, and it's actually significantly better.

ANYWAYS! It's spring break, and there's no excuse for me not to post!! This is kind of a different kind of post becuase it's mostly about hair. Usually I post about outfits, but today,  I thought I would share with you the results of no-heat curling method that is shorter hair friendly. I have really been wanting to try out the sock-bun-curls, but my ponytail isn't long enough yet, and I came across this method: head band curls!
It's way super easy, and it really worked! You're supposed to wear the headband with your hair wrapped around it over night, but since we were driving from Sacramento to LA, I figured that be enough time.
HAHA! I even tried it on Nathan!! He didn't have it in for very long, but it still started to work!
Here's the video I watched! This girl is brilliant! You should try it!

Well, everyone that's about it for me today. Tomorrow is disney and a really super fun outfit post! So glad to be back in the blogger realm! see you soon!

FRUSTRATION STATION

Mar 25, 2012

Hey everyone! In case you were wondering, what the heck happened to Rachel? Why doesn't she post a single thing? Wow, she must be really lazy. The truth is, my car was broken into and my computer was stolen! My insurance doesn't cover it, so It's gone forever. very sad. So, just so you know, I'm gonna get a laptop on loan tomorrow, and I'm waiting on my camera chord to come in the mail, then I'll be up and ready to go. Those silly thieves, they took literally everything I need for school. Even all my textbooks, notes books, and all of my senior recital repertoire. Totally lame. So I've been on major re-gathering mode. Everything is gone. So please be patient, I'm not totally dead, just... trying to recoup all my losses. until i get myself back on my feet, I'll see you then!

If you’ve got it, SING IT!

Hi Everyone! I hope your morning is going well! Mine's going well thus far! My husband has been sick as a dog these past few days, but he's doing much better now, which is really great. There's a really bad flu bug going around. Luckily I haven't gotten it (knock on wood right?). For the time being, I'm watching this great Boston Univeristy Master Class with Denyse Graves, its so informative! If you're into opera music, watch this! It's so great! Also Denyse Graves is basically all the woman I wanna be! Wildly talented, but also extremely gracious, and grounded. So great.

Anyways, this is what I decided to wear today. Basically this is a while T-Shirt and Jeans with a head scarf. I really like the idea of one thing being the star of the outfit, and in this outfit it's the scarf. It's such a great 50's look. Doesn't this remind you of the "We Can Do It!" Poster? I love it.

I decided to take my pictures inside today. It was too cold! I'm such a baby! Once I feel the nice warmth of 75 degrees, basically anything lower than that is Antartica.

Well everyone, thats it for me today! I really have to continue watching this video, and actually pay attention to it! There's so much great stuff happening here! Here's the link to it if you want to watch it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAHp7hH_wLM, it's boring if you're not into vocal performance, and I don't slight you for that in the least. Anyways, It's supposed to be cold today, and warm tomorrow. 'Tis truly spring when the bi-polar weather comes around. See you soon!

It's Not That You Should Care, I Just Wanted You To Know

Feb 29, 2012

Hello everyone! I feel like it's been forever since I've posted anything. I know it's really just been a few days, but it feels like a long time to me! Anyways the reason for the little break has been because of two things: I have no clean clothes, and I have no time.
Life has just continued to get more crazy, and while I'm loving it, some things kind of have to be put further back on the shelf, and since this blog will not be a determining factor as to whether or not I'll be graduating from college, it's rank on the list of priorities is relatively low. Sorry.
I remember this time last spring semester school was unflinchingly crazy, so I'm not surprised, but I really do hate not having the time to blog and relax. blogging relaxes me! Any of you blogging peoples out there, do you relate?
Anyways, here's my outfit of the day. This sweater is actually in my shop right now for sale. The collar on this sweater is what really drew me to it. I love the peter-pan-ness of it, and the little rhinestones... they're cute and tasteful not crazy like a rock-of-love contestant.

The dress under the sweater is such an old stand-by. It's strapless so it really does go under anything, and since it's smocked, I can totally adjust it to make it longer or shorter. And while I'm really not emotionally attached to my clothes, I got engaged in this dress at disneyland, so I really love it for that reason as well.

Well you guys, thats about it for me today! Don't forget to stop by the shop and check out all the goodies, that are no 20% off with coupon! Also, if you're a current WJU student at the Rocklin Campus, your shipping is free!!

See you soon!!

It Says in the Bible not to wrestle your neighbour.

Feb 24, 2012

Hello everyone! Happy Friday! What a week of craziness! In the course of this week I have been slaving away over my senior recital, I have a 20th century American art piece that is so tough, but I'm gonna master it if its the last thing I do! Not to mention the bajillion Disney songs I'm trying to memorize before April. Wow, what a tough life.

This is what I decided to wear today. This top kind of reminds of me those prom dresses from the late 80's wearly 90's that Laura Winslow would wear. I think it's because of the trim around the bottom. But hey, I can't get enough of the beautious laciness of it.
To answer your question, Yes. Those are Russian Nesting Dolls!! I'm slightly obsessed with nick-nacks from other countries. If you were to enter my apartment, you would see that I have quite the collection of Russian nesting dolls, and Cerdito piggy banks from Mexico. Also, I love the country of Mexico in general. If the Lord ever called me to full-time Mission work in Mexico, I would probably go, and I would apply to work at Rancho Sordo Mudo. Ironically the village where the ranch is at, has a strong Russian history...
PS. I made this skirt. Also, I'm fully aware of the extreme lack of pigment in my skin. I'm white, and I never tan. I've come to accept this fact, after 4 years of high school trying desperately to get tan, and only getting extremely sunburnt...

not many pictures today, but thats because my camera is swiftly running out of betteries. I need to get more. Anyways, thats about it for me anyways. I did want to mention that there is a sale currently going in the shop until St. Patrick's Day. You get 20% off when you use the code PTTV20, so be sure to check out the shop soon!! See you soon!!

Adventures in Baby Sitting

Feb 23, 2012

Hi Everyone! Are you so ready for the weekend? I am. This week should have been a breeze with Monday off, but I'm actually quite stressed. I have officially joined the thousands of soon to be college graduates in the hunt for a job. I feel like the Lord told me to go back to school because my destiny wasn't retail work, and every retail job that I have taken since I've started school has fallen through. I was hired at Freestyle, and then un-hired due to my music department schedule. So despite my greatest efforts in retail employment, the message is clear after three failed attempts here in the Sacramento area: no Urban Outfitters, no Kohls, no Freestyle. All great stores, but not for me. The really actual resume sending, interview praying, has begun. So if you're in the Sacramento area, and you have a job for this soon to be college grad, you know what to do!

anyways! I think I've told you quite a few times before that my current "part-time" job is watching the funnest three children in the whole wide world. I thought instead of showing you my outfit of the day, I'd share one of the best parts of my time here at William Jessup University.

Have you ever seen a prettier princess? This is us practicing how to say "You're Majesty."
Gotta study up on how to be a princess of course!
Oh hey, brother! That shirt says "Hello, My name is Trouble." enough said.
The whole gang. This was taken after the making of our Big Time Rush music video. These are three of the most precious kids I've ever known.

That's about it for me today, and...Well everyone there's a tiny glimpse into the life of student/wife/blogger/musician (not in that order, wife is first always). I actually am not constantly thinking of fashion, and spending all my hours reading other blogs. I hope you enjoyed a glance into my life from a different angle! And for those of you who are wondering, I am all better from my cold. The secret is Ultra Zicam, %100 Organic Cranberry Only Juice, and Sleep. See you soon!

I need more honey! More milk and honey!

Feb 20, 2012

Hi Everyone! Happy President’s day! Who’s your favorite President? Mine’s Abraham Lincoln. In fact, one of my favorite things at Disneyland is the Abraham Lincoln thing…I’m not joking, it makes me kind of teary. I love the freedom that we as American’s are privileged to have. I mean… look at the SOPA/PIPA thing, there were so many free Americans standing up against it, that a ton of lawmakers backed off! Yay freedom! Anyways, if I really got political this entry could take quite the turn, so we’re only gonna focus on freedom, and the fact that I have the day off from school.

Anyways, enough of that weirdness, this is what I decided to wear today. If you wondering to yourself, “what the, she looks kinda terrible.” hopefully it’s not because of my outfit, but because I have a cold, and it’s a doozie. I haven’t been sick at all this whole semester, which is nice, considering how busy I’ve been. Now that I have a little bit of time with nothing scheduled, of course I get sick. But hey, look at the bright side, I don’t have anything scheduled! I won’t have to cancel anything! There’s always a silver lining.

These are all freestyle finds of course. I know Valentine’s day is past, but you know, I think heart print should be encouraged all year long.

I’ve been sick since Friday, thusly, I’ve looked gross since Friday. But not today. I think there’s something that says on the internet somewhere that when you look good, you start to feel better. I’m going to decide to believe that, and tell you that I do actually feel a little better!

Well everyone, that’s all for me today! I hope you all enjoy your day off! I’m gonna make some food and continue to watch Parks and Recreation, and gain more inspiration from my hero, Leslie Knope.
