We Are Young So Let's Set The World On Fire

Feb 2, 2012

Hello everyone! It's Thursday! That means, it's almost the weekend, and that means rest! Hooray! Oh man, after such a crazy week, I'll looking forward to that for sure. I'm kind of, no wait, I'm desperately in need of a little retail therapy. We'll see.

Anyways, I've been basically entrenched, thus leaving me with very little energy to give any kind of thought to looking cute. However, today was the day that I just couldn't take it anymore! Legging, Yoga pants, Hoodies, NIKES!!!!... not that those thing don't have a place, but for me, that place is in my apartment on cleaning days! Today, I had to put something together

So here it is. This is what I decided to wear today. Doesn't this scarf pull it all together? I got this sweater as a gift from a blogging pal in the blogger gift swap (feature tomorrow)! Isn't just gorgeous? It's not actually an eternity scarf, I just hand-sewed the ends together. It was super easy. Anyways, without this scarf this outfit would just be plain ol' stripes with boots!

It really couldn't have been a more beautiful day. I clearly remember seeing the thermometer in my car reading at 70 degrees! In February!! Crazy I tell ya!
Literally not a single clound in the whole sky. These pictures were taken out behind the back parking lot at Jessup. Our campus sits on lots of open feilds, so there are a lot of great places to take pictures.

Also: don't forget to stop by the shop, as I have added a few things! i'll be adding stuff tomorrow too, so keep your eyes peeled!! Just click on the picture to take you there!
Well everyone! thats about it for me today! I have worship practice in like... one second, then, I'm gonna get some coffee with my dearest of dears, Rachel, then recording! Oh life you never take a break! See you soon.

If I live far away from Freestyle, where do I look for vintage?

Jan 27, 2012

Hello everyone! TGIF right? Man, what a crazy week! Today I made the concerted decision not to get cute. I mean, I don't look like a wreck, but I certainly don't look blogworthy. BUT instead of just ignoring the blogosphere, I decided to share with you some of the Etsy shops that I just can't get enough of.

Let me first say this: When it comes to Vintage, I mostly just go to Freestyle. The store in Downtown Sacramento has  the best Vintage, and the prices are really super good. Vintage can be kinda pricy, and the downtown Freestyle the number one place to go... but what if you live really far away, and get there? No worried Vintage hunter friends! Here are some shops that I make sure I visit atleast once a week!

Brainstorm Vintage
This shop is the number 1 go to for rare vintage dooneys, and you know how I feel about a good Dooney bag. Here are few examples of what I'm talking about
Spring Fever Vintage:
The girls that run this shop are super duper cute, and so are the things in their shop. I would wear this dress every freaking day!
Little Raisin Vintage:
If you're looking for really fun and colorful vintage, look no furthder. PLUS look at these awesome shoes!

Trashy Vintage:
This little halter is anything but trashy!

Well everyone! Be sure to click on the links which are the titles of the store and take a look for yourself. Like Levar Burton on Reading Rainbow, these are all cute stores, but don't take my word for it!! See you soon!!

I make up for lost time when I come home

Jan 4, 2012

Hi Everyone!! How are you all? I've been having a pretty stellar week myself! Things really seem better when your start off your week relaxing with your family. I know I should probably wait to tell you about thing exciting partnership when things actually get going, but I just can't wait! If you look to the side bar on the right of this page, you'll see the shop www.shesinside.com on the side. I've just partnered with them to do a feature on this page and I'm really stoked about it. I'm really excited about it because it's the first time i'll be partnering my blog with a website. Let me tell you, it was really tough picking out just one thing, everything was so cute, but I managed to do it!

Anyways, this is what I decided to wear the day I went on my thrifting excursion with my mom. I found this dress at the Stockton Crossroads outlet the day before, and let me tell you this: The crossroads outlet is the best store in the whole company. I don't care what anyone says. I always find really unique things there. This dress isn't exactly unique, but it sure is cute, and it sure was $3.78, so there.

The trees on my parents street are so cool, even in then winter. When the weather warms up they line the street and it's just so shady and beautiful. For one second it makes you forget that you're in Stockton! The sun actually did come out later that day, but that morning it was sooooo cold, I had to sacrifice the natural light and go inside. There was no way I could stay out there.

Anyways! Thats about it for me today! Not really a lot to write about today, except for my exciting partnership stuff. I'm probably gonna celebrate by going to Freestyle, even though my wubby is already home from work. Like I told you yesterday, he's sick, so he can't really go crazy... as crazy as you can go working retail...well, I guess I could probably go crazy (in a good way) if I was working at my favoritist store of all time... who knows. Anyways! all that to say, I gotta get myself to freestyle. I'll see you soon!

A vacation is having nothing to do and all day to do it in

Oct 15, 2011

Oh, good morning everyone! It feels so perfectly aligned that I be sitting in a busy starbucks with my delicious Salted Caramel Mocha working away at my blog. I like to think that the Lord provides us with these little retreats from normal life. In fact as I sit here right now thinking about what my day is going to hold, I can't help but be so happy. I'm here at Starbucks blogging (which is my favoritist thing to do), my husband is at band practice rocking, which is his favorite thing to do, and then later today, we'll be heading to our hometown and I'm gonna "run errands" with my mom, and we'll see our nephews, and we'll play with the doggies, it's just gonna be great.

Anyways this is what I decided to wear today. I've brought the peach skirt back out. It's still pretty warm up in the Valley, so it just feels strange to wear tights or sweaters, though I am growing increasingly impatient. I love boots, and it's just too hot to wear them yet. But trust me, I've already begun nice little collection...

This tie-neck blouse is one of my favorites. It's very versatile. Since it's sleeveless it's cool enough for warmer days, and since it's also silk it's warm enough to wear with a cardigan under a coat in cooler weather. Not to mention the tie-neck is awesome.

You can barely see him in this background, but little dark-grey blob that looks like he's walking away is my new little buddy, his name is Tig, but we really just call him "Little Kitty". We adopted him, and he is our new little baby. Cats are much easier apartment pets than dogs... sad, but true.
there he is. He's helping me. Plus, look at my hair, while it's not super long, it's log enough to make a sad little bud, and as sad as it may look, it makes me very happy. Grow short hair, grow!

Oh. Gosh. Let me tell you about this little beauties of a platform wedge: I found this Kork-Ease little glories at Freestyle (duh), and they were half off of $35! Do you know what that means?! I got $195 shoes for $17.50. What a victory. They are impeccably made, and they are my new faves.
Well everyone, that's about it for me today. By the way, the barista just walked up and asked if I wanted a piece of Banana Walnut Bread, could this morning be getting any better? See you soon!

She's a Pal and a Confidante

Jul 23, 2011

Hello everyone!! I hope your weekend is going well thus far. Mine's gone kind of good I guess. I mentioned a few posts ago that my wubby was sick, and it turns out that he was much more sick than we knew, and he has the flu... sad. So thats what my day has consisted of for the most part. Taking care of my husband, and nursing him back to health. Hopefully he gets better soon, I hate seeing him this way. In my 3 1/2 years of knowing him, I've never seen him so sick.

Anyways, as I type this at starbucks, this is actually my second time here today! I got all the way to starbucks and realized that I didn't have my camera or my usb chord to load my pictures! Silly me, so I took care of whatever I could, and just redigned to the fact that I had to come back. But thats okay! Because it's the time of year for the Treat reciept! yay! Although, I ordered the new blended Strawberry thing, and I really wish I had ordered a coffee drink, Oh well, good thing it was only two dollars, and not the regular price. The frozen strawberry lemonade thing from Mc Donalds is way better, and it's much cheaper. Whatever.

ANYWAYS!! This is what I decided to wear today. This little white dress doesn' actually belong to me.... it belongs to my dear friend Alyssa!! I dont remember why it had been hanging in my closet, but one funny thing is: it's from Campbells! This dress was there while I worked there, so she much have gone in while I was working, but I didn't know her then! We were meant to be friends, this much is true. Campbell's, in case you were wondering, is this great retail store that I worked at when I lived in Stockton years ago. Everything they have there is cute, and it was a very dangerous place to work and have a discount.

I'm obviously working the head scarf again. When you're taking care of your sick husband the last thing you wanna do is get your hair all cute for no reason. I mean, I do get cute for my husband, but when he's literally sleeping all day... whats the point right? Today is a head scarf day.
Isn't the back of this dress neat? You can really tell, but the white knit fabric is kind of shimmery! so if you unbelt it, and wear with heels, it can be kind of dressy!

I thought I would repaint my nails. They were looking bad.

Well you guys! Thats about it for me today. I can't believe I forgot to give you guys a link to my best friend's shop Darby and Lola, there it is for you. ALSO, don't forget to check out her wedding in last month's The Knot!!! How exciting!! Anyways, I gots to get back to my wubby!! See you soon!!

Primary Election

Jul 22, 2011

Hi Everyone! Happy Friday to you all! The heat is definitely back. No more pleasant walks over to Starbucks, I have to drive, I’ll melt… even if the walk is only 7-10 minutes. Oh well. Anyways! Two days ago I mentioned that I was gonna have a play date with my dearest friend from childhood (this is her wedding, featured in the Knot!!). I can prove it, you can just look every picture of my kiddy birthday parties, she’s there (and I’min all of hers!). It was such a blast, there are only a few people on this earth that make me laugh as hard as my husband does, and Karli is one of them. You know those friends that you don’t see for a while but when you do, it’s like no time has passed? That’s me and Karli. We both managed to get out of our little Hometown, and we’re still great friends! She lives in the Santa Rosa area. Next visit, me and Nathan are gonna visit she and James (her husband). Yay for best friends.

Anyways! Our day consisted of shopping till we dropped. Roseville has really great shopping, but you know me. I can’t buy brand new, I really cant. Everyones got great sales going right now, but even then with the great prices, nothing satisfies like a great find at a secondhand place. Sorry, but not really.

Well, everyone this is what I decided to wear today. I feel like the primary colors of this skirt make it perfect for summer. I like how it’s kind of nautical, but not with anchors and stripes. It’s nice.

This little hair clip is from Karli’s etsy store Darby and Lola. I am not joking, she’s like the craftiest woman I know (in a good way. She literally crafts things). Her store is soooooo cute! Every single one of those “o’s” is sincere. It’s super high quality and well made. I just adore everything in her store. I really like this clip because it’s not so big that it overwhelms my little baby pony-tail.
Isn't the belt of this skirt so fun? It's like a party in a belt!

Well everyone, that’s about it for me. Be sure to stop by Karli’s store before you get off your computers! Her stuff is not to be missedJ Enjoy your Friday everyone! See you soon!

Broadway is a tough, tough arena for singing

Mar 4, 2011

Oh World, hello again! I hope you guys are all doing great. I'm actually kind of having and off day. I dont know why, maybe lack of sleep, but mostly because of lack of motivation. I wish I knew why. I have no reason to be un-motivated. Is that even a word? I dont know.

The Title of my blog is a quote from Julie Andrews (my hero). We're doing broadway in the WJU choir for our big spring fundraise. I'm not a very good braodway singer, but I'm working on. If Julie Andrews (My hero) thinks its hard, then it's hard! But I LOVE musical theatre, so I'm really excited about it!!

BUT ENOUGHT ABOUT THAT STUFF!!! Onto more important things!! This is what I decided to wear today. I bought this poncho in December with my birthday money, and I never had anything to wear with it, or I never made the effort to really find anything. Anyways, It has buttons but I dont button it, I'd rather it fall kind of like a cardigan...plus fuller range of  motion, which is always good.

Poncho: Vintage from Etsy (I forgot which store), Sweater: thrifted, Undertank; Thrifted, Jeans: Gap from Freestyle, Shoe: UO, Headband: Anthro
I took pictures around 7:00 this morning, It was so beautiful and crisp, no weird neighbors out, it was so nice!
I'm really in love with the wide collar on this poncho it's so soft and cozy. It's like wearing a blanket that is socially acceptable in public. I can't believe I never wore it until now! The fringe isn't so bad either:)
I really am in love this little headband. I bought it when I was applying to work at Anthro. I wanted to look really interested. I think it worked because I was offered a position... unfortunately I turned it down for a job that was way lame.

Also, While at school my friend and co-music major pal, Nick Orton was was kind generous to let Alyssa and I to have come of the glory that was his fancy Peet's Coffee. I forget what kind it was, but it was strong, and delious.

Look at the beauty that is the french press. Oh, coffee snobs...

I just wanted a tiny little boost, so Nick poured mine into a cappuccino cup. It was so cute and little. So I documented it. It was a perfect tiny little cup of coffee. The cup had a little chip in it, and it reminds me of Chip from Beauty and the Beast.

Well people of blogworld, thats about it for me today. Take in this glorious weather, I'm gonna go visit my wonderful man of a husband, Nathan. at Freestyle. Get my drink (of chai) on, Get my shop on... Until tomorrow everyone!
