It's A Lazy Day For Fashion, But I Still Have A Full Face of Make Up

Mar 6, 2011

Hello everyone. I'm just sitting here at Starbucks before our Choir concert in Fair Oaks. It's a pretty grey/cold day, here in Northern California, so thats sad. But today is still a great day! Our pastor at Sunset Christian Center is such a great communicator. I find myself blessed and ecouraged and even convicted in some way every single week. I love love love love love our new church. It's 21 birthday was today! If you live in the Roseville/Rocklin area and are looking for a church to come to where the people are super friendly, love their members and the community, and where the whole congregation is genuinely seeking to hear the voice of the Lord, Sunset is the place to be. We are in such an exciting time! Man... God is such an exciting God!

Anyways, onto to way less important things. This is what I wore today:
I find that when it's super cold, I find very little motivation to look cute, so the unthinkable comes to fuition: my Ugg boots come out. While I know that there is very little fashion held in these cankle induncing shoes, I noly have one think on my mind: be warm. I didn't wear my Uggs to church (not that I haven't before), but i was really cold, so I just had to put them on. This sweater was one of my thrift store finds. It's super loud, but the colors are perfect for this time of year, because I can wear fun bright colors even though it's really cold. The funnt thing about this sweater though is that it smells like grandma perfume, even after washing. Whatever, that won't stop me from loving it.

Sweater: Thrifted, Dress: Thrifted, Leggings: AA Winter Leggings, Boots: Ugg Australia
I KNOW they're not the hottest, but they are seriously my warmest and most cozy shoes. This is how I survive winter! I hate being cold. hate hate hate it, and these help me weather the storms.
Isn't this little teapot/cup combo great?! It's so cute! I bought this little guy last year, and it serves me so perfectly! Teapot holds just enough water for one cup of tea, which is all I really need.
 I love my Cocoa Chai.
So Today is a rare day for me, in that I have full face of make up on. It's for choir, so don't get too crazy. And, It's not that I don't like wearing make-up, nothing is girlier (I dont know if thats even a word), but I dont have the time or energy to really go for it every single day. But it's a little bit different for Choir. Most churches have pretty bright lights, so a little something extra is key.
Makeup (Clockwise): CG Cheekers in Plum: Maybeline Liquid Eyeliner in black, Freshminerals Finishing Powder, Cover Girl Clean Liquid Foundation, Maybeline Matte Mouse Concealer, Ecotools powder brush, and eyeshadow brush, E.L.F foundation brush, Cover Girl Lash Blast Mascara, E.L.F eyeliner brush. Bare Minerals Eyeshadows: (bottom to top) Drama, Heart, and Queen Phyllis

Ironically when I put the camera on the self-timer, the face detecting feature didn't detect my face, but the face on nathan's painting in the background! haha.

You'll see, that I look VERY different with and without make up. Neither one are bad, I really dont think I look super terrible without make-up albeit paler than a ghost, and super shiny...

I also found out that my brother Chris' celeb crush is Zoey Deschanel. This makes me so happy, If I coudl pick out any celeb to be my best friend, it would be her. SO, if you are constantly being told that you look like her, and you love the Lord, and you are super funny, and you live in the San Diego area, and you're interested in dating a super funny guy, who loves the Lord, who is smarter than einstein and creates really amazing artwork, well... then it could be a love connection! Sorry Chris, you know I have to help a brother out. (Literally! haha) good grief.

Well you guys, thats it for me today. I hope you enjoy reading this blog as much as I enjoy writing it. Fashion is such a fun thing:) Have a wonderful day! I am. See you soon.

Relax...It's Only A Drawing...

Mar 5, 2011

Hi Everyone! I hope your Saturday is going great. Mine's going awesome. It's probably no sruprise that Nathan and I are in Stockton for the weekend. Nathan had a tattoo appointment, so we're here. I love visiting Stockon because I haven't found a single thrift store in our area that's better than the ones here. The only store I'm really actually into in Sacramento is Freestyle. No one really cares about vintage or thrifted stuff in Stockton, so I always find really great stuff.

Anways, yesterday there was a really clear view of the beautiful mountains, so I tried to take a pictrue of them. See that little white ridge? Thats them. They were awesome. Also, isn't this a great view of the town of Rocklin from WJU? Sometimes you can hear kids playing on the play ground at the park, it's great!
Also, We had a few friends over, to help Nathan record his new EP. These two fellows are TJ and Taylor, Kevin was there also, but he's very camera shy. It was a fun time of pizza, recording, comiserating about ear-training. It's always fun trying to fit people into our tiny appartment :)

On our way to Stockton this morning. Thats a McDonald's Frappe... Our on-the-road treat. I only drink them when I'm in the car with Nathan.

So, this is what I decided to wear today. I thought I would do my hair a little different. It's finally starting to grow into girl hair! I'm really excited. I can't wait for it to be long. All I want in the world of beauty is long hair! This jacket is super light, so it's perfect for this slightly chilly weather. I also really love the color of this top. It's so pretty and frilly. So girly, I love it.
Jacket: Simply Vera by Vera Wang, Top: F21, Jeans: Express, Sandals: Saltwater, Belt: Vintage (I bought everything at Freestyle)

Oh Saltwaters. They are so fun! They remind me of being a little girl. When I wear them, it makes me want to go to the beach or something. They're so springy!!
I look really serious here... But I think I was just concentrating on making sure the camera didn't fall out of the tree I was balancing it on.

My little buddy Chico. He wandered home with my mom and our dog Oscar. He was so cute and friendly, we tried everything to find his owner, but no one came forward, so we kept him. He's the best. I honestly think no one loves him as much as I do.

This little grey buddy is Oscar. I've never met a sweeter dog. He is seriously the best. I adore him. He also doesn't shed! Which is very nice.

Well everyone, thats about it for me today. I'm gonna go eat Chinese with my parents. You all enjoy this beautiful day. I hope you take advantage of the weather and do something fun outside. See you soon!!

Broadway is a tough, tough arena for singing

Mar 4, 2011

Oh World, hello again! I hope you guys are all doing great. I'm actually kind of having and off day. I dont know why, maybe lack of sleep, but mostly because of lack of motivation. I wish I knew why. I have no reason to be un-motivated. Is that even a word? I dont know.

The Title of my blog is a quote from Julie Andrews (my hero). We're doing broadway in the WJU choir for our big spring fundraise. I'm not a very good braodway singer, but I'm working on. If Julie Andrews (My hero) thinks its hard, then it's hard! But I LOVE musical theatre, so I'm really excited about it!!

BUT ENOUGHT ABOUT THAT STUFF!!! Onto more important things!! This is what I decided to wear today. I bought this poncho in December with my birthday money, and I never had anything to wear with it, or I never made the effort to really find anything. Anyways, It has buttons but I dont button it, I'd rather it fall kind of like a cardigan...plus fuller range of  motion, which is always good.

Poncho: Vintage from Etsy (I forgot which store), Sweater: thrifted, Undertank; Thrifted, Jeans: Gap from Freestyle, Shoe: UO, Headband: Anthro
I took pictures around 7:00 this morning, It was so beautiful and crisp, no weird neighbors out, it was so nice!
I'm really in love with the wide collar on this poncho it's so soft and cozy. It's like wearing a blanket that is socially acceptable in public. I can't believe I never wore it until now! The fringe isn't so bad either:)
I really am in love this little headband. I bought it when I was applying to work at Anthro. I wanted to look really interested. I think it worked because I was offered a position... unfortunately I turned it down for a job that was way lame.

Also, While at school my friend and co-music major pal, Nick Orton was was kind generous to let Alyssa and I to have come of the glory that was his fancy Peet's Coffee. I forget what kind it was, but it was strong, and delious.

Look at the beauty that is the french press. Oh, coffee snobs...

I just wanted a tiny little boost, so Nick poured mine into a cappuccino cup. It was so cute and little. So I documented it. It was a perfect tiny little cup of coffee. The cup had a little chip in it, and it reminds me of Chip from Beauty and the Beast.

Well people of blogworld, thats about it for me today. Take in this glorious weather, I'm gonna go visit my wonderful man of a husband, Nathan. at Freestyle. Get my drink (of chai) on, Get my shop on... Until tomorrow everyone!

I Rode Here On The Wings Of Eagles

Mar 3, 2011

Hello Everyone. So seriously, can you please tell me what is up with this stupid weather? I mean, it's great today, but it's seriously sunny one day, rainy the next, sunny the next! Oh well, I wont argue, I'll take sunny weather whenever I can get it.

Today was a pretty full day of work. Woke up early to get math homework done, and I've pretty much been working my tail off eversince! In fact when I get done with this blog, I'm going back to school to call prospective students to talk to them about the music department at WJU. I'm looking forward to it actually. I love doing WJU stuff.

Anyways, this is what I decided to wear today. It was sunny so I decided to forego the tights again. Annoyingly enough, everyone at school said that I looked like catholic school girl... that was not my aim. In fact when I was looking at these pictures, I thought it looked more like Alice in Wonderland. Whatevs, make up your own mind and let me know what you think.

Sweater: Super Trashy from Freestyle, Dress: Zara from Freestyle, Socks: Urban Outfitters, Shoes: Urban Outfitters from Freestyle

The windy-ness of the morning made my skirt blow up a little bit... but nothing inappropriate...no Marilyn moments, as all my weird Apartment neighbors stare down at the weird hipster girl taking pictures of herseld.
The ruffle of this dress is what appeals to me most. I adore girly ruffly stuff.

I could help to squeal with delight when I saw the pug on this cardigan. We all know how much I love my little baby Maylene.
I also had the treat to go to Shady Coffee and Tea in Roseville and visit my dearest dearest friend, Erin!! This is the drink that I ordered. It's just hot chocolate, but good grief, look how beautiful this is! You almost don't want to drink it. But it was truly delicious.

Here we are! I told Erin to be cool during the self-timer. She's new...
But let's get serious here. Look how great erin's outfit is. I have a mild obsession with over-the-knee socks at the moment. I feel the need to wear them with everything. But Erin is wearing them great. She also informed me that her GREAT Frye booties were a random girlf from her HAIRDRESSER?! I now have her number...

We thought we would be cute and stand on this person's property to take a picture, and there was super growly/scary dog!! Whoops. No Tresspassing I guess!!

Well, all you glorious people, Thats about it for me today. Take the opportunity to enjoy the sunny weather while you can, and wear your over the knee socks without tights while it's kinda warm!! See you soon!!

I Thought You Were Talking About "Lucas" That Movie From The 80's

Mar 2, 2011

Good morning everyone! It truly is a great day, despite this crazy weather. I dont know why it has to be so bi-polar, but whatevs, I'll just dress accordingly and not put any of my winter stuff away yet. I din't want to take pictures outside today because it was really windy and blustery. But I have decided that I am going to use the camera that I share with my husband instead of that sorry little camera I've been using.

This is what I decided to wear today. It's so dark and gloomy. But it is cozy. In case you were wondering, and I'm sure you weren't, but I did make this scarf. It's the warmest scarf ever, and now that I'm wearing my hair in this tiny little pony, I need lots of neck warmth.
Coat: F21 from freestyle, Black Pants: Rich & Skinny from Freestyle, Boots: Steve Madden from freestyle, Scarf: ME!!

I finally invested in some quality delicious tea. I had been drinking really cheap low-quality crap from who knows where, and it literally tasted like I was drinking water out of a hot tub. So gross, Honey didn't even help, it was no use. So I went to Safeway and got Goodearth, Cocoa Chai Black Tea....yummmmmyyyy.

Anyways, prepare your hearts and souls and minds for the friend feature tomorrow. I'm really excited about it for two reasons 1) this woman is covered in tattoos by my husband 2) She's absolutely wonderful in every possible way, 3) She's my bestest friend. I know...bad counting. Get off it!

Well Friends and loved ones, that about it for today. very uneventful, very boring outfit.

Just sing a song and bring the sunny weather. (WJU Features: Gennean and Ryan)

Mar 2, 2011

Hi Everyone! Could this have been a more beautiful day? I mean really. This was seriously my favorite day. I didn't have to wear tights!! Granted, I opted for over-the-knee socks for your eye protection. No one wants to see the ungodly levels of whiteness that are my legs...wow.  Anyways, the weather made my day so great! Even my math class made sense to me. How bad can your day be if you only have two classes, and one of them is Choir (which just happens to be my most favorite class)? Praise the Lord.

I also decided to take advantage of this beautious weather and take pictures outside. Even with my sorry little camera, outside pictures just look so much better. This will probably become habit. ANYWAYS, this is what I decided to wear today. To be perfectly honest, this sweater looks like an old grampa night shirt unless I belt it. It's really quite awful! haha. But I love the blushy pink color, and it convinced me to finagle a way to make it work.
Sweater: H&M from Freestyle, Lace Top:Target from Freestyle, Skirt: Thrifted, Socks: F21, Boots: Thrifted

But Enought about me!! I think beautiful weather just inspries people to be more beautiful. I mean, take a look at my beautious friend Gennean. She is sooooo cute!! I saw her from afar on campus, and I attacked her with my camera. What a babe, right?!

And then.... Drum roll please. This is an epic moment for Parrish The Thought. I give thee, RYAN!! A boy!! I saw his school bag from a mile away. When I approached him to be in my blog, he was very gracious, and then he mentioned that he and his gf were Freestlye fans!! Friends for life.
Ryan is a snazzy young man. He knows how to look nice, as you can see. I'll bet his gf is a total babe.

Look at that sweet bag!!
Well everyone, while now it's rainy, I hope you thoroughly enjoy this day!! See you soon!
