Light Morning Conversation

Aug 29, 2011

Good morning wonderful blogging community! It's almost 10:00am, so thought to kill time before my next class at 12:30, I would fill you in on how school is going.

School is going great thus far! I tend to be an extreme worrier. So the night before the first day of classes was not a very restful once for me. But alas, my day went fine. I'm in so very very very interesting classes, so I'm speaking life into this semester by saying that I think I really going to love soaking up all the info I can. I have lots of psych classes, which are going to be sooooo awesome! I also have a class at 8 in the morning that I've decided that I'm going to love: Christian Perspectives. . It wasn't what I thought it was going to be at all, and that makes me so really excited.

I've grown up in a Christian home my entire life. The little old ladies at the church I've grown up in my whole life are all like my grandmas, and my church friends growing up are more like family than friends. I've been surrounded by this type of culture my whole life, and I continue to live in that culture voluntarily, I really love beign around church, and church people. the only bummer is, I really dont hear a lot of other worldviews, and thats why I'm so excited about this class.

The couple behind me was like on a weird first date or something. Their flirtatiousness was really uncomfortable. Oh Starbucks. I'll bet the employees witness lot's of strange dates! Also, I really wish I knew what my bangs were doing. They really need a trim.
Christians should be thinkers and learners, and they should know, like really know our world. But do we? Do I? After just two days of Christians Perspective, it's pretty clear that I didn't know nearly as much as I thought I did. How can I be all things to all people, when I only know the people who are like me? How can make disciples of all nations, when i'm a disciple of just my own? I'm really excited about this year. I'm going to be made uncomfortable, and I'm going to have my feelings hurt (I tend to take everything personally, it's one of my bajillion flaws), but I'm going to stretched and grown so much, and it's going to happen between 8:00 and 9:30 AM every monday and wednesday!!! I can't wait,

If we are facing in the right direction, all we have to do is keep on walking

Aug 28, 2011

So these past few weeks I haven't really posted much on my blog. However! It's not that I haven't been thinking about it, or that I've just let myself go and I don't care about clothes or fashion or any of that stuff, I just kind of feel like my blog is a little bit... directionless. Maybe it's like a quarter-life crisis or something, but I've really been feeling the vanity of this blog. I mean lets think about this: I spend more time worrying about what I'm gonna wear than I do in my Bible. Somethings weird about that right? I mean, I'll give a little spiritual blurb every once in a great while, but for the most part, I'm really just praising my own name.

So... Does this mean I'm gonna "repent" and leave my blog? No. That actually wasn't even a thought in my mind. But I do feel like I should take this blog in a new direction. I'll talk about about clothes still... don't be mistaken. I. Love. Clothes. But I don't think I'll ONLY talking about clothes. I'm not exactly sure how I'm gonna execute this new direction, but blog entries won't be every single day (they haven't been for a while), and you'll see a whole lot more pictures of other people and places and animals (of course animals!!). Posts will be a lot longer I think, and subject matter will be more than just about my thrifting adventures, and my aversion to anything brand-new. I'll talk a lot more about being newly(ish) married, my husband adventure's in Tattooing and Rockstar-dom, my last year of college and being in the music department at WJU (thats right I am in fact GRADUATING!), my growing and changing family, and more/most importantly, the Lord.

So... thats about it for me today. I know, no pictures, kind of a weird post, but I thought you all oughta know what I'm thinking about. Let me know what you're thoughts are on this... I'm excited about this, and I think it'll be a good thing :) see you soon!

An industrious sinner I much prefer to a lazy saint

Hi Everyone!! It's finally Saturday! I've been pretty busy these past few days getting things ready for school. It's been nuts I tell ya! I dont even have any of my books yet! I dont know what the heck I'm gonna do, books are expensive! Oh well, it'll work out.

Anyways enough about that, on to weekend fun times! Nathan has a tattoo appointment today so we are in Stockton. We haven't been to our hometown in such a long time it feels, so while Stockton may not be the funnest or most glamourous town, it sure is good to see family. My brothers are together this weekend in San Diego, I wish I were there with them.

ANYWAYS! This is what I decided to wear today. When my mom greeted me at my parents' house, she said I looked like I was going to prom. The last time I wore this dress, people were so complementary, I actually think it's pretty plain and kind of boring, but whatevs! It's a whole outfit in one peice. thats what kind of travel dressing I like.

Chico thinks he's some kind of wild animal.

Today is a lazy day, just ask our little buddy oscar. Have you ever seen a dog with a sweeter face? His personality is just as sweet. You'll never meet a better dog than Oscar.

Well everyone, enjoy your Saturday. I think I'm gonna just lay around and have lazy last weekend of Summer. If you're returning to school next week, I encourage you to do the same. See you soon!

The opportunity for doing mischief is found a hundred times a day

Hello Everyone!! Today is the day that I post my 100th entry!!! Crazy!! Now granted I haven't posted 100 different outfits, but I'm sure it comes close. The thought of 100 different outfits is pretty crazy. It makes me feel like a hoarder! Good thing I'm a major patron of Freestyle, and I'm not opposed to donating to the Salvation army! Things could get out of control.

Anyways, this starbucks that I'm sitting at while typing this blog has their music turned up so loud. I'm all for loud music, but seriously, when everyone at the store has to yell, thats just too much. I have to be honest with you about something right now, and this is the first time I'm doing this, but, I'm seriously here just for the internet! I'm on my way to Shady to have coffee with Erin so I don't wanna get too hyped up, so I'm not ordering anything here! What cheap-o I am. I guess I could type my blog at Shady, but I dont like typing while trying to chat with friends, I can't do them both, and usually it's the friend who suffers... it's bad manners.

Anyways, this is what I've decided to wear today. I wore this dress pretty recently, and it's quickly become one of my favorites. It's literally the comfiest thing I've ever worn. It'll definitely have to be put up during the winter, it'll be wayyy too cold for the winter, so I feel like I havet o get as much wear out of it as I can before it starts geting cold.

Recently I've ventured into the world of trendy lipsticks. My favorite trend right now is hot pink. You can't really tell in this pictures, but this lipstick is much more vivid in person. I thought it would make my teeth look really yellow, but turns out, it's not so bad.

Look at this little guy! He slipped under the fence and kept me company for a little while. I'm not cat person really, but thats because unfortunately, I'm very allergic, but I think I would like cats a lot more if I weren't. Look how cute this little buddy is!

Hi Everyone! How is your Monday going? I hope it’s going well. I have turned in my millionth form for financial aid. I’m really hoping this is my last one. Have you ever had to deal with financial aid for college? It can get pretty crazy as far as paperwork, and numbers, and tax forms. The word “tedious” is barely scratching the surface. However, I have to say this: my financial aid advisor was really sweet and helpful the entire time, and I’ve learned a very valuable lesson; NEVER DO YOUR OWN TAXES!! It pays to take your paperwork to a professional. And I also learned this: if the Lord wants you to be somewhere, there will always be opposition, the road is always up hill in some way. But the Lord is so much smarter than us, and so much bigger than our problems. And it’s easy to say this now, but even if things hadn’t worked out for this semester, that would have meant that the Lord had something else for. But let me tell you, I’m really glad that the Lord has me at Jessup. I love my school! I would be so sad if I wasn’t going back there.

ANYWAYS! Enough about business! This is what I decided to wear today. How relaxing is this skirt to your eyes? Doesn’t it make you think of someplace beautiful and tropical? I don’t know, that’s how I view it. I plan on finding a way to make it work into the fall, for some reason I think short brown motorcycle and/or cowboy boots will look cute. We shall see, Freestyle never lets be down for boots. You should see my collectionJ

Well that’s about it for me. My husband is off at a meeting with Kingdom, so I’m basically waiting for him to text me so I can go pick him up. Guess I’ll just have to hang out at Starbucks until then… darn. See you soon!

A loyal friend laughs at your jokes when they're not so good

HELLO EVERYONE!!! Good lordy-lordy! It’s been such a long long time since I’ve been able to post anything. I thought the school year was busy, but wow, once you don’t have school to worry about, all of the sudden you get super busy with other stuff! Not to mention, the cord to my camera went missing. Turns out it was in the back seat of my car this whole time. I hate when stuff like that happens. I am seriously the worst with losing things. But what a victorious feeling when you find it again! Oh blogging world, how I have sincerely missed you!
Anyways, these past few weeks have just been a blur. Where have they gone?! Well, I know that Nathan and I went to Monterey with the band that he’s now apart of. They’re called Kingdom, and they are super great, and that’s all I’m going to say about them. Just kidding! Nathan joined this band a few weeks ago, and I guess they trusted him with one of their most important shows of all time, Spirit West Coast, and asked us to come along. It was definitely kind of twilight zone-ish not being there with our Modesto friends and we certainly did miss them, but what a wonderful blessing to hang out with our new friends, who feel like old friends! At the risk of sounding really churchy, it’s really been a blessing to see Nathan get to bring the metal once more. It’s pretty clear that this kinda stuff is what he was meant to do.
Anyways, this is what I decided to wear today. Get a load of the print on this top! Isn’t it fun? I picked this bad boy up yesterday from freestyle. I pretty much made a killing yesterday when I sold boat-load of stuff that I never wore, or decided I could live without. I hadn’t been in about a week-and-a-half, so there were tons of new things there. I could have gone crazy, but I decided to take it easy.

So… cropped tops and high-waisted midi-skirts and summer dresses have pretty much been my summer uniform. This outfit clearly, is no different.

Also, look how quickly my brangs have grown! Good grief! When they get long like this, I feel like they are pushing down on my eyelashes, and they make me tired, but whatever, I really am not complaining. Grow hair, grow!!

Well, without further a-do, here are a few pics from our Monterey trip. Nathan’s made a new little best friend. Her name is June. She belongs to our friends Vanessa and Jordan. This trip really couldn’t have been more fun. Can’t wait till next year!!
Well everyone, that’s about it for me today. Ican’t believe school literally starts in less that two weeks! AHHHH!!! Idont know if I have enough time to emotionally prepare! Just kidding, that’s not true. I really excited about school starting…and I’m really excited about Graduating!!! Let the countdown begin. Have a great Sunday everyone, see you soonJ
