there is no sure-fire do-it-yourself kit

Hello everyone!! Hope you’re having a fabulous Wednesday. I start my babysitting job again, and I’m so glad.  It’s been almost three weeks since I’ve seen my little buddies, so I’m excited. We have a lot to catch up on, like… Comparing the last three Spiderman movies to this new one, which I thought rocked. I think Gwen Stacy was a way better girlfriend than Mary Jane, not to mention, that I have a celeb girl-crush on Emma Stone. How can you not? She’s so adorable? Also, in Spiderman she wears boots with EVERY outfit. It’s just pretty obvious that we were meant to be best friends.

ANYWAYS! Enough with that. Onto other things! I’ve been playing around on pinterest, looking for fun DIY projects that someone like me, who loves crafts, but doesn’t have the funding for supplies, to try. And I found one! It was like it was calling to me. Bright beautiful colors + costume jewelry? Yes please.

For those of you who tons of old prom “diamonds” laying around, OR if you were in a university choir that required to you wear sparkly sparkles (pretty from far away, tacky with anything other than your choir dress), then this little DIY is perfect!!

All you do is take your old jewelry, your favorite nail polish, and paint away. It is a little tedious, and I would be lying if I said I didn’t get a little head-ache from this project. You should probably do this near and open window, or a fan. The fumes get a little crazy. Also, probably not a great idea to have the nail polish directly under my face... Also, look how think my lashes are! Maybeline Falsies is to thank for that!

This is my necklace from Choir from 2010. I decided to go with Revlon’s Minted (No. 85).

 I put on two coats of nail polish to give it a more plastic look.

 I hung it on the arm of my piano stand to let it dry. Unfortunately the journey from the couch to the piano was a messy one, but you really can;t tell now.

AND here’s the finished product! How cute!! I will probably wear this with something that has no print or anything. I decided to model it with my plain coral colored dress. Thanks pinterest, for your never ending supply of fun things to do! I’ll be keeping my eyes out at the thrift store for more like this J

Tomorrow is the day of truth... my first real haircut in 2+ years... It's so weird to think that there was once a time when I went to the salon faithfully every 8 weeks. Worm Farm

Hello Everyone! IT’s now Saturday, and it becoming frighteningly close to the end of spring break. I guess I shouldn’t get too tweaked considering Summer is coming up in 36 days. The real scare is graduation! Like I said I’m on the job hunt. I’ve put my resume into a few places and have made a few phone calls, but I’m still gonna apply to everything I can get my hands on. Being a music major, I’m trying to find jobs in the field, which are more than I thought, so that’s kind of cool.

Anyways, this is what I decided to wear today. I love the little bow at the neckline! For the past few weeks our weather has been less than stellar, (which I guess is to be expected considering 70 degree weather in the winter is totally abnormal) but since It’s warm, I’m gonna take advantage! I’ve had a few safety scares at our apartment these past few weeks, so I’ve decided to just take pictures on my back patio, which is sadly the least picturesque place in all time and history. 

 Our patio was totally and completely covered in leaves before took pictures. So I thought I woudl just casually sweep them away. Not thinking this completely through, it didn't occur to me that it was an entire winter's worth of wet soggy leaves... When I got down to the bottom of the leaf pile, it was a like a WORM FARM!! There were worms everywhere! GROSS. I'm not a bug person, so sorry all you green thumbs out there who are offended by my hatred for worms. But as you can see, I powered through, and eventually swept the whole patio.

 Today, I thought I would take the sock bun for a test run (learned all my rhyming skills from Dr. Seuss). My layers are a little crazy from growing out, but for the most part it totally worked! I did have to put in a few bobby pins, but hey! Better than back-combing the living day-lights out of my hair and breaking all the ends! We’ll see tonight what the end result is with the curls.  My hair kinks super easy when you put a hair band in it, so I’m thinking it won’t be that cute.

 I got these sunglasses when Nathan was in desperate need and we found a buy one get one free kiosk at Long Beach!

Hello everyone! Happy Friday! What a week of craziness! In the course of this week I have been slaving away over my senior recital, I have a 20th century American art piece that is so tough, but I'm gonna master it if its the last thing I do! Not to mention the bajillion Disney songs I'm trying to memorize before April. Wow, what a tough life.

This is what I decided to wear today. This top kind of reminds of me those prom dresses from the late 80's wearly 90's that Laura Winslow would wear. I think it's because of the trim around the bottom. But hey, I can't get enough of the beautious laciness of it.

 To answer your question, Yes. Those are Russian Nesting Dolls!! I'm slightly obsessed with nick-nacks from other countries. If you were to enter my apartment, you would see that I have quite the collection of Russian nesting dolls, and Cerdito piggy banks from Mexico. Also, I love the country of Mexico in general. If the Lord ever called me to full-time Mission work in Mexico, I would probably go, and I would apply to work at Rancho Sordo Mudo. Ironically the village where the ranch is at, has a strong Russian history...

 PS. I made this skirt. Also, I'm fully aware of the extreme lack of pigment in my skin. I'm white, and I never tan. I've come to accept this fact, after 4 years of high school trying desperately to get tan, and only getting extremely sunburnt...

Hello Everyone! Happy Saturday to you!  I hope your weekend is starting out right! Mine totally is, I'm in Stockton today to celebrate my mom's birthday! Her friends all pitched in to buy she and my dad a weekend away in Mendocino! Let me tell you, no one deserves a beautiful weekend like my parents, so I'm so happy they get to go do that.

Anyways, this outfit is actually not what I decided to wear today. I wore this yesterday. But I have to say, I'm really proud of this skirt, because I altered it to be a mullet skirt! I loved it as a normal ol' skirt, but now its so much more fun as as mullet skirt. It was super easy too. I have a feeling this won't be the only skirt I do this with. I was so excited about it that I forgot to cut a few strings from the hem, but whatever.

 

 I'm really into the color combo of this outfit. Peach, Grey, Denim, Black, White. Please let me wear this every single day.

 This shot really shows the strings... whoopsie! the reason I decided to make this into a mullet skirt was because I bought these little boots, and I couldn't find a single thing to wear with them, and I was scared that I would have to return them, but alas, my creative brain had a breakthrough. These tights are not my favorite, becasue they make my legs look all bruised up, but they're the only sheer grey tights I have, sue me.

 Ugh, the colors. My favorite.

 And last but not least, the boots.

I have no clue whats planned for the rest of my day, but I'm sure I can think of something fun, but for now, I'll continue watching this Snow Patrol DVD that I've had on while I work on this blog. Blog Feature: Broken 2 Restored

Hello everyone! Happy Monday to you. Let me tell you first off the fact that I survived my very stormy drive to school this morning is a total miracle. I left for  class early so that I would have enough time to drive slow and take back roads the whole time. I made it safe and sound :)
ANYWAYS! A few months ago, I met a very special girl in the youth group that Nathan and I are leaders in, named Marissa. Being totally burdened by the Lord to serve people in poverty and really wanting to them to know the love of Jesus, she used her creative gifting to start a little business that is %100 non-profit. It completely runs on donations, and all profit, every single penny goes to a missionary organization called Speed The Light. Her small, but all ready thriving, company is called Broken 2 Restored. What she has done is gathered old t-shirts that people don't wear and turned them into super on trend necklaces, which she sells for $5 a peice. Every penny goes to Speed The Light in efforts to rescue young girls from the horror sex-trafficking.

 Isn't she absolutely wonderful?! If you ever get the chance to chat with her in person, which I hope you do, you will be able to see that without a shadow of a doubt that her heart for these girls to know the love of Jesus is really what she is aiming for. I have personally seen these necklaces fly off the table at youth conferences. It's absolutely a pleasure for me to get to tell you all about what Marissa is doing for Speed the Light.

These People Are My Friends, and I CARE ABOUT THEM!!

Hi Everyone! I hope you are all having a great weekend, I know I definitely am. Yesterday was pretty much the greatest day of my life as I caught up with Stockton friends that I hadn’t really had really good hang out time with in a really long time. I was so busy chatting it up and talking about life that I didn’t take a single picture!! Don’t worry though, the Wilson Way flea market in Stockton is really nothing to take pictures of. However, I really should have taken pictrues of how cute my friends looked, my brother’s GF Mandi and her BFF Shelby are definitely the most fashionable 18 years ladies that I know personally for sure. Not to mention they are little theological geniuses. Oh well… such is life I suppose.

BUT I also reconnected with my best friend through high school and go around at college, Meg. She’s quite the scrap booking/invitation /greeting card maven. She’s got this crazy machine called a Cricket, and it cuts out all these crazy shapes, I don’t know what kind of sorcery it employs, but it’s pretty crazy. We hadn’t chatted or even seen each other since our best friend Karli’s wedding (who was featured in the Knot!!) last September! It was really healing time to reconnect. Something was missing from my life, and it was Meg (hahaha, how romantic! But I’m serious).

Anyways, while I was hanging out with my girlfriends all day, this is what I decided to wear. I followed Keiko Lynn’s tutorial of how wear and head scarf, and I think this will definitely be a look that I adopt as I continue to grow out my hair. It’s kind of rock-a-billy meets Prince at the 2006 super bowl half-time show. I invested in this scarf and hot pink one from the Goodwill for $2.25. I’ll have to look for more neutral ones so I can wear them with more outfits.

What a treat! Out of nowhere, Nathan decided he wanted to help me with my pictures! Hahaha. Look how regal he is in these. Some of them he decided to be my quest photographer for a few pictures since I forgot my tripod in Sacramento. Man… what the heck did I do before having a tripod?

This is my dads firewood pile… how mountainly is that right?! I feel like I look so rugged standing in front of it! Ha.
