Weekend Update

Nov 15, 2011

Hi Everyone! Happy Tuesday! I hope your week thus far is going great, mine's been pretty nice. I regret not taking any pictures, but yesterday my husband surprised me yesterday with a trip to the bay area! It was so fun. He drove me all the way to Berkeley for Shopping and eating and walking and wonderment. It was so great. I was so distracted by my fun date that I forgot to whip out my camera. Darn. ANYWAYS!! Thats not what this post is about at all!

I wanted to tell you about my weekend! Friday and Saturday of last week my husband  and spent our time at the AG Youth Conference for Northern California and Nevada where his band Kingdom played! Yep, this blog post is definitely a bragging post because I'm so in love with my husband. ANYWAYS, here's a few pictures and a video of what my husband and his friends are all about. They just recorded their full-length CD and I'm really looking forward to it. Maybe you're not into big anthemic music, that's okay. Maybe you're not into worship music, that's also okay. But this is what Nathan and I are into, and we are also into Jesus, so this is perfect for him, and I'm happy to cheer him on.
thats him on the big screen!

Here's the you tube video that I took with my little point and shoot. I'm actually impressed with the quality of video and sound, considering it's not a super great camera. ANYWAYS, my husband is the guy on the right with long hair... I've told you before that he's a pretty metal guy. if you didn't believe me before, maybe this will convince you.

Well everyone thats about it for me today. I've got soooo much homework to do... ugh. 'Tis the season for homework I suppose. I hope you enjoyed the pictures from our weekend. I got lots of fun new clothes this weekend, so new outfit posts shall be coming soon. Hooray! I'll see you soon!

I'm a bit of lunatic with shoes and jackets and jeans

Nov 11, 2011

Hi everyone! Happy Friday everyone! It's finally that day of the week that means no school tomorrow. I know you're thinking, "but didn't you ditch school yesterday?". The answer is yes, but there's a small sense (very small sense) of guilt associated with with ditching school. There's not one ounce of guilt on Saturday, it's just a free day. Well, not totally free, I have homework, but I can do it at starbucks, not at school, which I love!

Anyways, this is what I decided to wear today. I might be late to the party on this, but I've found my new favorite jeans, and they are the J.Crew Matchstick jean. They're not skin tight like a skinny jean (thought skin-tight jeans have their place in this world), but they aren't like an awkward boot cut, they're just perfect. I want another pair soon. AND they dont stretch and get weird by the end of the day. Perfection.

In case you even care, there are no christmas ornaments in that box. Only Nathan's paintings. I've been gettign afew comments on them as I begin to take pictures indoors. It's just too cold to go out without a big coat, He does sell his paintings, but beware, they are always paintings that make some sort of social point, they're not always just feel-good cutesy stuff. In fact, they almost never are. But thats something about Nathan I have always admired, his conviction to stand up for what's right. What a man.
Despite the fact that my face looks totally weird here, doesn't it kind of look like a crown of Dandilions around my head? How fun!

Here's the painting that crowing my head earlier. Isn't it neat? It was the first Christmas present Nathan ever gave. I think we had only been dating for about a month. It has a really sweet little letter written on the back of the canvas. Sometimes when I'm feeling blue, I take the painting off the wall and read it, then I feel better.
This was my valentines day present. It's a love pig! I know, it seems really strange a two-headed yellow pig, but let me explain. In Mexico, you can buy these little cerdito souvenirs. They're little piggy-banks that are painted with all sorts of beautiful colors. I have about... 1000 of them, I just love them. That's what this pictures is. Its a little bank, only it has two heads. The head with the mustache is Nathan, and I'm the one with rosy cheeks. It also has a cute little message. Gosh, I love my little paintings.
Well everyone, thats about it for me today. Since I didn't do anything school related yesterday, I should probably do some school related things today. Maybe not. Who knows. There are always so many fun things to do. Anyways, I hope you all have a great rest of your Friday, and an even better Saturday! See you soon!

All Trees Must Be Pruned Before They Can Grow

Nov 7, 2011

Hello everyone!!  It’s Monday, and I’ve just come out of my orientation for Kohl’s. I’ve been hired there for Holiday Work. Things have been really tight lately, people just aren’t getting tattoos, I don’t know why. I know it’s not because he’s not good… just click on this link and you’ll see that he’s an excellent tattoo artist. Just the life and times of young married artists I guess… The Lord always provides, We’ve never been hungry or cold, and He always comes on His own time.

Anyways, today is really special for us: it’s our 2nd anniversary! It is amazing to think about how far we’ve come since our wedding day. God is so good at interrupting our plans isn’t he? At the time Nathan and I got married, Nathan was in a band called Worth Dying For and I was working in youth ministry in Stockton, and our plans were to do that and live in Modesto. We were gonna live with my parents until we found a house, and we would live happily ever after doing who knows what. Well… that plan never even came close to fruition. On the same day our millionth house offer was accepted, Nathan’s income ceased. We were married for 3 months. 3 months after that I also found myself unemployed. I don’t know what God’s audible voice sounds like, but it was clearly the Lord who “told” me to go back to William Jessup University. I didn’t know how that was going to happen, but slowly and surely God was cutting ties in Stockton and in Modesto without burning bridges. Financial Aid came in, and eventually we moved up to the Sacramento area. The rest is history my friends. Nathan is now a Tattoo Artist, works at Freestyle and is in a band called Kingdom, while I’m a full-time music-major at WJU, where I lead worship for chapel, and have the privilege of being the Chaplain of the Music Department. Here are a few pictures from our wedding day. What a fun and beautiful day. It just went by so fast. But I remember it like was yesterday.

One thing I’ve come to realize these past two years is this: Im not in control. It’s a lesson I learn over and over and over. Ive also learned that I’m not the boss. It’s sounds like the same lesson, but it’s not. AND, that success has a different definition when serving the Lord, Nathan and I have both been learning that in different ways, and it’s been wonderful being his support and having him be mine. Being Married is awesome and excited when you’re walking with the Lord together. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for us in the future.

that’s about it for me today, I didn’t really plan on sharing my recent testimony, but there it is! I hope you enjoyed my wedding pictures as much as I do! See you soon!

This is the sleeping bag we took to the museum, isn't it?

Hi Everyone!! Happy Saturday! Who knows that from this point on, life gets wayyy too crazy? While Christmas will be approaching sooner that we realize, I really am concentrating on slowing down and really enjoying this fall winter? It’s Cold, but it’s sunny…perfect. The trees still have their leaves, they’re just yellow, and red. I love love love fall. Our winters here in Northern California aren’t really much of a winter wonderland, they’re actually more like a rainy winter drudgery. Once Christmas is over, I’m ready for it to start getting warm.

Anyways! This isn’t what I decided to wear today. This is actually what I decided to wear to school yesterday. I was channeling Margot Tennenbaum pretty hardcore yesterday in this coat. I don’t think anyone at school made that connection, but with my hair pinned to the side, its dead on. I found this little baby at my favorite Thrift store in Stockton, It felt like a risk to me, but my mom said I needed it, so I went with it. Everyone needs a camel colored coat, especially one with a fur collar. It feels so fancy!

Well everyone, that’s about it for me today. Enjoy this Saturday, take a little time to enjoy this fall weather, Everyone should go to Starbucks and get a Salted-Carmel Mocha and just sit outside in the chill, after Im done typing this, that’s exactly what I’m going to do. Ill see you soon!

the great charm of all power is modesty

Clothes are such a funny thing aren't they? They say so much without us even knowing. That's why it's so important to really think about the things we put on. There are people who think that it's shallow to care about clothes, but let me discuss why it's not.

Our clothes communicate so much, and they can sometime dictate how people respond towards us. There's so much to consider when thinking about dressing your body. Like, what might look great on someone else may or may not look good on you, and vis versa. OR, what I would wear on a date with my husband would not look at all like what I would wear to lead worship on a sunday morning. Or even what I would wear to lead worship at school, would look different from what I would wear to lead worship at church. Your outfit communicates so much!

Our clothes need to be an extension of who we are, bringing out our very best, not distract people from it!

Here's an example that speaks volumes. Here's Nicole Richie. Now, while I wouldn't necessarily endorse her initial method of weight loss, or her relationship with the law, I am convinced that since having her baby and getting married, she's a different woman, and I'm a big fan of hers. But here's what we used to know of Nicole Richie: Paris Hilton's wild friend with fried hair. Yikes. If you told me that she was going to be one of my favorite fashion icons, I would laugh in your face. What does this outfit say about... anyone? How would you expect a man to treat you? What kind of friends would you attract? What type of Boss would be likely to hire you? I'm actually saddened by the fact more people dress like this than the latter...
But look at this!!! Is she not totally gorgeous? What does this outfit say? She looks like, and I believe, she actually is a different person now! Look how much more confident she looks! More sure of herself. This is the Nicole Richie that guest stars on Project Runway with significant influence. I want everything in her closet.
Soooo.... all this to say, when you have a public speaking engagement (even if its just a high school presentaion), think about what you're communicating!! when you put your booty shorts on before you go to the mall... think about how many people will be there, and the fact that creepers are everywhere. You can look totally cute, HOT even, without your booty shorts. What do you want your clothes to say about you?

Here We Are On The Ocean Waves Floating Away

Oct 18, 2011

Hi everyone!! Hope your week is going awesome thus far, mines going pretty great. Mondays have all of the sudden become my favorite day of the work-week. Why is that you ask? Well, I'll tell you! I've dropped two classes because I don't need them to graduate (boo yah!), making my day on monday last from 8-930am! Which gives me a bajillion hours to do homework, and if I dont have homework, it gives me a bajillion hours to work on this blog and shop it up! If only I could be paid to shop it up and blog it up... Hooray!!

Anyways, this is not what I decided to wear today, this is what I decided to wear on Saturday over the weekend. I wore something totally different today. But let me comment on these little boots. Nathan put these on hold for me at Freestyle, and when I saw them, I knew in that instant that I was in love...with those boots.

Little kitty is guarding me. I did some investigative work and walked around the fence to see what he was guarding me from, and there was a huge/scary black cat with a huge head! Good thing Little Kitty was there!
I love this little nesting doll necklace, I've had it for quite a few years. I dont bring her out as much as I should. She has so much character! Her face is so sweet!

Oh yes, here is a closer view of my boots. Thanks wubby!!

From the moment I met little kitty, I was pretty much in love. I wasn't sure if Nathan was totally sold yet, but I bought him some food and left it outside for him so if he wanted to stop by, he could have a little snack...well I had to being the food inside and here's why... a possum!! Scary! He ate every single little bit of food!! I didn't buy that catfood for him! Rude.
Well everyone, thats about it for me today. I'm thinking about doing a post on how to dress appropriately for various occasions, and why modesty is always a good idea. If you have any thoughts or questions, I would love to hear them!! Have a great day everyone. I'll see you soon!!

A vacation is having nothing to do and all day to do it in

Oct 15, 2011

Oh, good morning everyone! It feels so perfectly aligned that I be sitting in a busy starbucks with my delicious Salted Caramel Mocha working away at my blog. I like to think that the Lord provides us with these little retreats from normal life. In fact as I sit here right now thinking about what my day is going to hold, I can't help but be so happy. I'm here at Starbucks blogging (which is my favoritist thing to do), my husband is at band practice rocking, which is his favorite thing to do, and then later today, we'll be heading to our hometown and I'm gonna "run errands" with my mom, and we'll see our nephews, and we'll play with the doggies, it's just gonna be great.

Anyways this is what I decided to wear today. I've brought the peach skirt back out. It's still pretty warm up in the Valley, so it just feels strange to wear tights or sweaters, though I am growing increasingly impatient. I love boots, and it's just too hot to wear them yet. But trust me, I've already begun nice little collection...

This tie-neck blouse is one of my favorites. It's very versatile. Since it's sleeveless it's cool enough for warmer days, and since it's also silk it's warm enough to wear with a cardigan under a coat in cooler weather. Not to mention the tie-neck is awesome.

You can barely see him in this background, but little dark-grey blob that looks like he's walking away is my new little buddy, his name is Tig, but we really just call him "Little Kitty". We adopted him, and he is our new little baby. Cats are much easier apartment pets than dogs... sad, but true.
there he is. He's helping me. Plus, look at my hair, while it's not super long, it's log enough to make a sad little bud, and as sad as it may look, it makes me very happy. Grow short hair, grow!

Oh. Gosh. Let me tell you about this little beauties of a platform wedge: I found this Kork-Ease little glories at Freestyle (duh), and they were half off of $35! Do you know what that means?! I got $195 shoes for $17.50. What a victory. They are impeccably made, and they are my new faves.
Well everyone, that's about it for me today. By the way, the barista just walked up and asked if I wanted a piece of Banana Walnut Bread, could this morning be getting any better? See you soon!
