plaid shirts and striped pants rarely make a positive fashion statement

Jun 9, 2011

Hello everyone! I hope your day is going great. Thus far mine's going pretty great. I just got finished eating breakfast with my dearest friend, Rachel from school. I can always count on good talks on all subjects with her. When I say "all subjects" I'm not kidding. Our conversation went from Disney Music, to Coffee, to Jesus, to our Nathans (her BF's name is Nathan too), to just about everything. So fun. The rest of the day can only bring more wonderment I'm sure.

This is what I decided to wear today. I feel like it's really... June Cleaver meets Americana, which I love. I just have to brang about the price of this outfit for one moment. This outfit (not including the shoes) cost $6, and thats being Generous. Part of the greatness that is thrift store shopping in Stockton is the fact that you can fill your entire basket for less that $50. I have to compeletely transparent when I say that my thrift tendencies border on hoarding

This skirt could not be more versatile. I'm already planning other outfits with it. It's so comfy with the elastice waistband. I think I could even wear this to watch the kids on the days I work, with different shoes of course!

You know those days when you feel like you're having a great hair day? Today thats me. I tried something a little different so that my awkwardly out-grown pixie cut could get some volume, and let me tell you, it worked. I was very happy.

So I never really wear stuff in my hair, because my hair isn't long enough, but I felt that this little flower really fit the outfit, without overwhelming my tiny little ponytail.
Isn't the plaid of this button down fun? I love Primary colors, they are so summery. That day of shopping at the thrift was the day of Primary, as I bought a lot of stuff with that same color scheme.

Remember what I said about \platform wedges? I wasn't joking. This little beauties make me 6'2", and I love it.

Well everyone thats about it for me today. I'll be post pictures of my nanny adventures soon enough. But for this super gorgeous day, I'm just gonna take it easy. I suggest you do the same. See you soon!

Beware of the man who rises to power from one suspender

Jun 8, 2011

Hi Everyone! These past few days have kind of been a whirlwind since I started my summer nanny job. It’s kind of weird getting dressed for the first three days of the week, because I have to wear things that are kid friendly (meaning, I have to be able to walk to the park, or the pool at any given moment).
The little guys that I am watching are super easy to watch. They play outside with the other neighbor kids all day, and I just make sure they’re safe. The other moms on the street are super nice for the most part, and the icing on the cake… my best friend is nannying four houses down so I get to see her a lot, which is fun. It’s finally starting to warm up, so we’re all going to the pool. It should be really fun.

This is what I decided to wear today. Aren’t these suspender jeans so fun?! They really bring out my womanliness… I found them at Crossroads in Stockton, they were hanging on the wall, and I had to have them. $9 for these Grey Ant suspender jeans!! Wow

This outfit is pretty self explanatory, so I didn’t take too many pictures. Besides the fact that I don’t have the same amount of time as I normally do to blog it up.
That’s about it for me today. I hope you are able to take advantage of this beautiful weather. I’m gonna try and get some color for sure… not super tan, because we all know that would never happen. See you guys soon.

I'd rather have roses on my table than diamonds on my neck

Hi everyone!! Happy saturday. Nathan and I are in Stockton this weekend. I've just returned from the Thrift Store with my mom. We like to tell my dad that we're going to "run errands". But he's a smart guy, he always knows where we're going. I got lots of special prizes for the nezt week. Very excited to share, tons of vintage. I'm serious as ever when I say that Stockton has the best thrift stores. I've never been to any better. Even now that I live in a more metropolitan area.

Anyways, This is not what I wore today, I wore this a few days ago. the outfit I'm wearing today isn't so great. You know, errand running clothing. Originally this outfit didn't include the blazer, but just the top is a lot of floral. I remember the weather being really strange that day. It was really cold when I put the outfit on, and by the time I got to Freestyle to do a little shopping, I it ws freaking 80 degrees, and I was sweating my brains out. Annoying. I'm also starting to get tired of blogging about bi-polar weather.
This day was clearly a no-make up day.

While the print on this shirt is really wild, I never get tired of it. I love the vintage-y floral. The colors are just perfect. I'm also growing increasingly obsessed with the color of this nail polish. It's just from Target. Nothing special really.
These holey jeans are from the Gap, that I picked up from Freestyle quite a while ago. I haven't found any that I like better, so the holes just get bigger and bigger, until eventually I'm going to have to cut them into shorts. That will be a sad day...

But these vans never fail to impress. They are so comfy, and they never let me down. They add instant old-fashion-ness to everything, which I always appreciate.
Well everyone thats about it for me today. Can't wait to share my newly thrifted finds with you. It's always great coming back from the hunt with tons of great stuff. See you soon?

That's Right, We Were Talking About Tiny Hats!

Jun 3, 2011

Hello everyone!! So this weekend is supposed to rainy again, but I wanted to make sure I got out and took pictures for this post before the rain started to fall, and before Nathan got home from work and we would have to drive in rush hour traffic to get to Stockton, and by that time I would just be too tired. It's a slippery slope my friend!

Have any of you seen that stand-up DVD that Ellen released like 7 or 8 years ago? These past few days I've really been wanting to watch it. I'm not a stand-up comedy DVD watcher by any stretch, like I dont commonly flip the channel to Comedy Central (in fact, most of the time I hate whatever is on there), but this DVD is effing hilarious, I literally laugh out loud, almost to the point of peeing my pants every single time I watch it. It's so funny. AND, probably my most favorite part of it is... it's Clean! There's no "F" bombs, or crass jokes. It's totally Apropriate! Thats where the title of my blog comes from today. Just a little trivia for you.

Anyways, this is the outfit I decided to wear to day. If it looks familiar, it's because I did actually wear it on my San Diego Trip! I just didn't feature any of my outfits, so I thought today was the day for this dress/sweater combo.
I've always been into mixing prints, and the floral print of this dress is so small and sweet, that it makes pairing it with other prints really easy. PLUS: This sweater is pretty much a depiticion of me in sweater form. Music notes and piano keys. I've been working on a video post of a song that I wrote recently, but I'm such a noob when comes to you tube. I have to have my wubby help me.
As you can see, I forgot to put on lipgloss... I love lipgloss, but I forget almost every single day. I dont know why, oh well. It's not the end of the world (unless you Herald Camping) hahaha. That might have been the worst joke I've ever attempted...

Dress: Vintage, Sweater: Anthro from Crossroads, Wedges: Freestyle Nails: Revlon Minted
These little babies are my new platform wedges. I feel like platform wedges just make my fashion world go round. I've never been one for high heels of any kind, but wow, do I love a good wedge. More to come my friends. More, To, Come.
Well everyone thats about it for me today. Can't wait to get to Stockton to see my parents and my in-laws, AND get to celebrating Mandi's graduation!!! What the heck am I gonna wear? This is very important. Well everyone, get your raincoats out this weekend, it's gonna be a wet one. See you soon!

They All Jumped Over The Fence

Jun 2, 2011

Hello everyone!! Todays weather could not be more different than yesterday's. In fact its warm enough for me to sit outside at Starbucks and post this entry! Crazy!

Anyways, today has been kind of weird. As I was taking pictures behind my apartment, like... 7 teenage boys jumped over the fence and started running! I'll bet they were just as shocked to see me. I mean, who takes pictures of themselves all alone for their blog? Pretty weird thing to come upon. HOWEVER, I dont think it's as weird as me hearing one boy saying "I have a knife in my pocket, so it's all good". Needless to say, I went inside and locked the door. Weird story right?!

Anyways, this is what I decided to wear today, in honor of this gloriouly sunny, and June apropriate weather:
How fun is this dress? I found it at Freestyle of course, they have such great vintage. I was a little bit unsure when I took it off the rack, I mean, look at it! It's full on Hawaiian print from Hawaii!! I think if I lived in a more fashionable eclectic place I wouldn't be quite as self concsious, say like, San Francisco, or LA, or even San Diego (I dream), but as it is, I live in the suburbs of Sacramento. So they shall just have to put up with me:)

Remember how I was commenting on the weather in yesterday's post? Well, here are some pictures from yesterday, as the weather just went from bad to... crazy! There was lightening and thunder and hail!! I know that is seriously nothing compared the mid-west, but here CA, we don't get that kind of stuff.

This is my car, covered in hail! It looked like snow! I decided that after my shopping excursion I would take it easy at Panera until the weather calmed down. wow...

Well everyone thats about it for me today. I hope you all find something fun to do while the weather is nice!! See you soon!!

Watching the rain outside the window

Jun 1, 2011

Happy first day of June, also known as my most favoritist month! I am very confused by this weather, I have to say. This is California! We're supposed to have sunny sunshine! It really does make getting dressed difficult, as I have VERY successfully gotten rid of ALL of my warmer clothes, and have ZERO desire to wear jeans (seeing as I literally have 2 pairs of blue jeans, holey and non holey). I just wanna wear dresses for the next 90 days non-stop. I've garnered up quite a glorious collection of vintage beauties, but they just hang in my closet waiting for the sun to come out. Oh the anticipation...

Anyways, if thats the hardest thing in life, then I should shut my mouth right?! I mean seriously. Everything else in life rocks. Ie: I found Harry Potter: The Half Blood Prince for $9 at Target. No more asking my friends to borrow theirs! Also, because of Freestyle, despite my lack of monies, I can feed my shopping habit by selling clothes I no longer feel like wearing. Also! My little brother's gf, Mandi, graduated from High School, and her par-tay is going to be sooo fun. I love that little woman! And once fall comes around, She and my brother can finally be closer than 6 hours apart. She's going to BIOLA... I'm so proud!!! So, no ocmplaining about the weather allowed.

Anyways, This is what I wore today:
This is one of the only dresses I have in my closet that I bought brand new. Its about...2 years old. It's a pretty special dress. It's one of the few items of clothing that I am emotionally attached to becasue I got engaged in this dress!!
We got engaged at Disneyland at Snow White's Wishing Well in 2009... I was sooo surprised. Look my wubby's legs! Daaang!

One this that I really love about this dress, is it's versatility. It's summery because its strapless and short, and knit, but the colors and the pattern make it so seay to wear in the colder months. Just throw on tights and a sweater and POW!

This fence has serious nails in it. You can kinda see them in the picture. I have to be really careful when you lean up against it.
UGH! The colors and the pattern of this dress are really what drew me to it. It just tsuck out among the rest of the loud trends at the H&M in Washington DC. What a great city! Am I right or am I right? I freaking love America.
These boots were a Christmas gift from my wubby:) Man... He has a way with shoes. Seriously. I love that man, more than I love America.
Well everyone, thats about it for me today. I'm sitting near the loudest talker ever at Starbucks. She was talking about her break-up and then some girl-fight, then who knowswhat else. I know all the names of her friends, and all of her favorite swear-words. Someone help me. I'll probably go on over the freestyle, there are two vintage dooneys with my name on them. I'm actually not joking at all... they're on hold for me. Until next time...

See you soon!!

OH!!! PS!! If you go to Yelp and write a loving review about Freestyle, mention you heard about this place from Rachel Parrish on Parrish the Thought!! You won't be sorry:) Click on the word Yelp, and it'll take you righ there!!

Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure

May 25, 2011

Oh hello everyone!! My gosh, seriously how long has it been since I posted anything legitimate?! I wanna say three weeks. I mean, there was that online store post, but you know… like a real post. I don’t know. ANYWAYS! I am back, and I am so glad. I’ve missed blogging, and have gotten a bajillion new things to share with you.

One thing that has happened since I’ve been gone is that the school year has ended. While it’s rainy today (weird), Summer is now here. And since you know the school years over, you know what that means… so is my school year’s resolution of buying only thrifted/secondhand goods (Mostly from Freestyle Clothing Exchange, Big Valley Thrift, or Superior thrift). I thought I would be so excited to end my resolution that I would go out to H&M immediately and buy up the store. I found that I could not. My dearest friend Alyssa Severin and I ventured to the mall in literally months, and wandered through H&M and Forever pretty aimlessly. I must have tried on a hundred things and you know, I just wasn’t wowed…. I don’t know. There’s a sense of victory in finding that perfect piece among the “rubble” in the thrift store. Not to mention the pride that comes from getting vintage cowboy boots for $7.50. Anyways, though technically my school year’s resolution is over, it will go on in my heart forever. I don’t think I’ll ever return to my old ways. Plus, you can get vintage at Forever21.

Well, this is what I decided to wear today. I put on the dress before I had looked outside, and paired with ONLY gladiator sandals… To my dismay I saw that it was very cloudy, and pretty cold out, so I dug out my tights and boots, and put on my trench coat. I forgot how much I love to wear tights. They are my favorite accessory.

It’s funny to me that I mentioned Forever21 in the blog earlier, and this little dress is actually from Forever. However, I did buy it at Freestyle.

My wubby came home from work and surprised me with these beauteous vintage boots. Look at the awesome southwestern detail on the side. Who’s jealous because their husband doesn’t home with shoes? My husband is so great!! (and not just ‘cause he has the ability to know what shoes I love, and what size I wear).

Well everyone, that’s about it for me today! Tomorrow is going to be a really fun/adventurous day with my gal pal Rachel. We’re going downtown for a little thrifting fun. Can’t wait!! Hope the weather’s a little clearer!

See you soon!
