Here We Are On The Ocean Waves Floating Away

Oct 18, 2011

Hi everyone!! Hope your week is going awesome thus far, mines going pretty great. Mondays have all of the sudden become my favorite day of the work-week. Why is that you ask? Well, I'll tell you! I've dropped two classes because I don't need them to graduate (boo yah!), making my day on monday last from 8-930am! Which gives me a bajillion hours to do homework, and if I dont have homework, it gives me a bajillion hours to work on this blog and shop it up! If only I could be paid to shop it up and blog it up... Hooray!!

Anyways, this is not what I decided to wear today, this is what I decided to wear on Saturday over the weekend. I wore something totally different today. But let me comment on these little boots. Nathan put these on hold for me at Freestyle, and when I saw them, I knew in that instant that I was in love...with those boots.

Little kitty is guarding me. I did some investigative work and walked around the fence to see what he was guarding me from, and there was a huge/scary black cat with a huge head! Good thing Little Kitty was there!
I love this little nesting doll necklace, I've had it for quite a few years. I dont bring her out as much as I should. She has so much character! Her face is so sweet!

Oh yes, here is a closer view of my boots. Thanks wubby!!

From the moment I met little kitty, I was pretty much in love. I wasn't sure if Nathan was totally sold yet, but I bought him some food and left it outside for him so if he wanted to stop by, he could have a little snack...well I had to being the food inside and here's why... a possum!! Scary! He ate every single little bit of food!! I didn't buy that catfood for him! Rude.
Well everyone, thats about it for me today. I'm thinking about doing a post on how to dress appropriately for various occasions, and why modesty is always a good idea. If you have any thoughts or questions, I would love to hear them!! Have a great day everyone. I'll see you soon!!

A vacation is having nothing to do and all day to do it in

Oct 15, 2011

Oh, good morning everyone! It feels so perfectly aligned that I be sitting in a busy starbucks with my delicious Salted Caramel Mocha working away at my blog. I like to think that the Lord provides us with these little retreats from normal life. In fact as I sit here right now thinking about what my day is going to hold, I can't help but be so happy. I'm here at Starbucks blogging (which is my favoritist thing to do), my husband is at band practice rocking, which is his favorite thing to do, and then later today, we'll be heading to our hometown and I'm gonna "run errands" with my mom, and we'll see our nephews, and we'll play with the doggies, it's just gonna be great.

Anyways this is what I decided to wear today. I've brought the peach skirt back out. It's still pretty warm up in the Valley, so it just feels strange to wear tights or sweaters, though I am growing increasingly impatient. I love boots, and it's just too hot to wear them yet. But trust me, I've already begun nice little collection...

This tie-neck blouse is one of my favorites. It's very versatile. Since it's sleeveless it's cool enough for warmer days, and since it's also silk it's warm enough to wear with a cardigan under a coat in cooler weather. Not to mention the tie-neck is awesome.

You can barely see him in this background, but little dark-grey blob that looks like he's walking away is my new little buddy, his name is Tig, but we really just call him "Little Kitty". We adopted him, and he is our new little baby. Cats are much easier apartment pets than dogs... sad, but true.
there he is. He's helping me. Plus, look at my hair, while it's not super long, it's log enough to make a sad little bud, and as sad as it may look, it makes me very happy. Grow short hair, grow!

Oh. Gosh. Let me tell you about this little beauties of a platform wedge: I found this Kork-Ease little glories at Freestyle (duh), and they were half off of $35! Do you know what that means?! I got $195 shoes for $17.50. What a victory. They are impeccably made, and they are my new faves.
Well everyone, that's about it for me today. By the way, the barista just walked up and asked if I wanted a piece of Banana Walnut Bread, could this morning be getting any better? See you soon!

You do your homework, and you use your imagination. .

Oct 11, 2011

Oh hello everyone! Its been such a long time since I've posted anything of any value... Lordy. For this I sincerely apologize. Until this day, I've been inundated with more homework than any normal human should have. But I had a chat with the registrar about somehow moving some units around, and these chains of 18 units that bind have been loosed! Haha. I know, how dramatic. But thats how I feel! Ugh!! So I'm dropping two classes. Im debating about whether to keep my science class (which feels like sand-paper against my teeth its so awful) or drop my Tuesday Night Class (which gets out at 10pm, but its soooo crazy interesting, and I'm able to diagnose my husband with every mental disorder known to the DSM-IV-TR). It's a hard call, I know I'm going to drop two classes, and out the three that I don't absolutely need, its a toss up between those two. ANYWAYS! I can just hear my kitchen calling my name "Come and cook!", I can hear my blog saying "Rachel I miss you! your fashion now has no accountability, so you look like a homeless person!" So with the weight of 6 units lifted off of my shoulder... Parrish the Thought will be back in business!! Hooray!

ANYWAYS! Here are a few pictures from our Disney Trip that we took over the weekend. I could have stayed for weeks! Gosh, I love Disney.

I need you all to notice my nephew's crazy face on the right that was completely candid!!

Here are the culminations of my favoritist rides. The new Little Mermaid ride might be my new favorite slow ride.
I take the glories of Freestyle wherever I go (nevermind the wind making my dress blow-up!). Also, you can see the family resemblance with my brother and I. Big teefs.
Ugh... I wish I were still there. Until next time everyone. I'll see you soon! And this time I mean it!

Disneyland will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world

Sep 26, 2011

Hello everyone!! In 12 days my Husband and I are taking a vacation to... Disneyland!! I can't wait. I love love love love Disneyland. So, while I sit in class, not paying attention, and wishing I were somewhere else, I decided to share with you what I would ideally wear on my adventure to the happiest place on earth.
disney
Oh Disney... I just can't wait. I hope you guys are all having a great day. Even though it is monday... See you all soon!

Correction!! The Show's on Saturday! Silly Me!!

Sep 20, 2011

What a goof I am!!! I totally yelled out all over the internet that the show I was playing at Origin was on Friday, but I am wrong!! Everyone, for goodness sakes, I am wrong! The show with The Music Room on the 24th is a Saturday!! Dont be confused my friends! I dont know how I did that. But... if you were planning on being at Origin on Friday at 7, thats great, but there will be no show. It's on Saturday. Saturday. @7. With The Music Room. I'm opening. i'm very excited. Tell your friends and neighbors, because it's free, if you give your money, it's going to help END sex trafficing, and it's going to be super fun :)

Woah!! Hey there full face of make up! Nice Eyeliner!!

Moody Mondays: Tapestry Print!

Sep 19, 2011

Hello everyone!! I've decided that during my theory and therapy class on mondays, it would be a great time to post all my favorite etsy finds! Today theme is Tapestry Print stuff! It;s so fantastically 90's librarian (hot librarian of course!). Here are my favorite things thus far
1970's Boho Mini- How freaking gorgeous is this print?! Let me tell you how often I would wear this dress if it were mine: Every single day (Etsy Store: Stilleto Girl Vintage)

I love the bright colors of this bag. With a chambray button down and black skinnies... this would be perfect. Tapestry Bag: In with the Old Vintage

These glorious boots would be great with a dress and tights! Tapestry Boots- Rocky Mountain Retro

This would be the perfect addition to any outfit. Tapestry Vest- Accoustic Dreamer

How cute is all of this stuff? Etsy vintage is like being able to thrift shop for something specific, and if any of you are big on thrifting, you know how impossible that is. It's like the thrill of the dig with 100% chance of finding something great. Wow... what a productive class!

See you soon!

The Best Time To Wear a Striped Sweater is All The Time

Sep 17, 2011

Hi Everyone!! It's been such a long time since I've posted anything! I can't even tell you how crazy life has been since school has started, It's been a good crazy, but crazy nonetheless. Remember how I told you I've been thinking about how I've decided to change up my blog slightly? Well, today is the day ladies and gentlemen.

I've been going to school to get a music degree that I had no idea what to do with. I still dont really, but besides learning how to hear inverted diminished 7ths, and how to conduct Mozart's Jupiter symphony, and sing a bajillion German Liters (which has been AWESOME), I've also learned about being held accountable for the gifts and oppertunities you've been given. Being held accountable- thats a heavy thought. Jessup has been a time of nothing but opportunities and open doors, and on Thursday night at the Courage To Be You concert the Lord spoke to me in a way that I was not prepared for. It wasn't an audible voice or anything (I really wouldn't be prepared for that!!) but it was sense of serious conviction that communicated these three words "You cannot stop." I knew exactly what that meant, and I couldn't help but agree... and cry (of course!).
look how humongous that water bottle is! Lordy, I must have been parched. ANYWAYS, there I am playing ages ago at Vintage Faith in Santa Cruz.
I've decided to pick up my music again, and this time I'm serious. It's not so much about being this fantastic singer or even a songwriter, as much as it is about the message. Do people know what Jesus is all about?! If they don't, I'm gonna tell em! Actually I'm gonna sing it to them, but you know what I mean. Basically, I'm over knowing what God wants me to do, but remaining my comfort zone. That never seems to work...

So... Step one is getting back out there, and I am. Next Friday, I'm playing at Origin Coffee and Tea at 7pm in Rocklin CA with my old friends from Jessup (the first time around), The Music Room. I havent played a show like this in yeeeeeeeeaaarrrs. I liken this oppertunity to Valentine's day, when your door knocks, and you dont really know who it is, but you open the door only to see this gigantic teddy bear as a gift. I wasnt really sure what the Lord was saying to me, but I just said yes, and the next day Dane, from the Music Room sent me a FB message saying that their opener had cancelled and wanted to know if I wanted to open for them...When the Lord decides to do something in your life, he's not joking around. ANYWAYS!!! Now that this post has become a freaking book, here's the point, I'm playing a show with the Music Room on Friday of Next week, and I would LOVE LOVE LOVE if you showed up. Here's the Info.
